marianco said:Yes. Low E2 levels can cause erectile dysfunction.
See DavidZ's notes on this board for his experience in managing estrogen levels.

Isn't that the same thing as ED?zadok said:I know low E2 can cause loss of libido and sensation, but will it affect your ability to get an erection?
Based on my (subjective) experience, I would say yes.dano79 said:I was asking if E2 had a role in genital sensation.

For me it was both and a lot of men I have talked to has the same problems.dano79 said:My question is, what exactly is its role, If E2 is too high does it affect sensation, or if E2 is too low, or both?
If I were to only look at my sense of "sensation" (or even erectile response alone), I don't think I could distinguish whether my E2 was too high or too low. They seem the same, if not, very similar. When E2 (and T) is in the right range, the whole mechanism clicks in, both sensation and response.dano79 said:My question is, what exactly is its role, If E2 is too high does it affect sensation, or if E2 is too low, or both?
Mine E2 runs low (was 12 on my last labs) and I believe this has caused libido and ED issues.
Is there a way to calculate optimal E2 range? Based on SHBG?
Can anyone comment on this? I desperately want to raise my e2 and find out if that is what's been causing my issues. The highest I've been able to get it was e2=14. Even then as is today, I'm able to get it up but can't maintain it.
Here are my labs from 3/14
I was taking:
Testim 1% ED
HCG 250iu ETD
DHEA - 25mg ED
Labcorp Bloodwork 3/14
Testosterone, Serum = 766 (249 - 836)
Testosterone, F+W = 196 (40 - 250)
Testosterone, Free, Direct = 24 (8.7 - 25.1)
SHBG = 29 (14.5 - 48.4)
Estradiol = 14 (3-70) This is the highest it's been in 9 months. I'm usually in the single digits.
DHT =126 (30 - 85)
DHEA = 356 (88 - 427)
Vitamin D = 63 (32 - 100)
Progesterone = 0.8 (0.2 - 1.4)
Cortisol-AM = 19 (6.2 - 19.4)
PSA = 2.5 (0 - 4)
Prolactin = Did not test for this.
Remember - I cant take DHEA anymore to raise estradiol because it made my PSA jump from 1.0 to 2,5. I'm hoping it will go back down now that I stopped DHEA but it's likely going to bring my estradiol down as well. I need to find out what causing the low estradiol or how to raise it artificially. The only other possible explanation is I took saw palmetto last year for a few months. Could that have done something?
