anyone listen to these dudes? they fuckin rock...just recently got turned on to them....they have a pretty distinct sound

heavy, heavy, heavy band. i love 'em. crushing guitars, great riffs and grooves. they've been around for quite a few years now. the 'singer' can get to me as he just screams, but overall they rock. good call chris.

Looks like you and I have been around the obscure scene for a while, Chip. I'm not so much a meshuggah fan, though. They're alright, I suppose, but I'd rather listen to Morbid Angel.

I thought you were talking about mensrhea like what gene wilder had in see no evil hear no evil

chris, they do use a lot of odd time signatures. very quirky indeed.

grizz, you da man bro. you're really reaching back there with morbid angel. i remember them when they broke out of the florida club scene over 15 years ago. you were 10 years old at most for fuck's sake. damn that's one cool 10-year-old... :D morbid angel is more polished imo and trey is a great guitar player. i've had the pleasure of meeting him and he's a real nice guy; not at all what you may expect. he also plays a mean classical guitar.

ahh, those were the days. early prong, crawl pappy, early helmet, the melvins.... :D they just don't make music like that anymore. they do try but, to me, it comes across as too forced and not heart-felt. ah, i guess i'm just an old fart..

u ever see see no evil hear no evil with richard prior and gene wilder? if not it is old but pretty damn funny. mensrhea mensrhea oh god

no idea WTF you just said

I saw Meshuggah live opening up for TOOL in November 2002. I hadn't really listened to them much, so it was hard to get into the music and follow them. I'm into bands that use odd time signatures (therefore any and all rap metal sucks), but I didn't have enough time to listen and dissect the music to appreciate what they were doing. Also, the sound quality at the venue was poor, so the guitars just sounded muddy. The singer got on my nerves a little, too. I'm a drummer, so I tend to look at music from a mathematical perspective. That's why I'm so into Mudvayne and Tool. Meshuggah sounded like they had some complicated and tricky songs, but I don't know the music well enough to appreciate it. Anyway, sorry to go off on a tangent!

i recently picked up some classic waylon jennings, and a new band...Guns-n-Roses. they're hardcore man. :)

have a nice day

lmfao joe... :D waylon jennings is one heavy-ass motherfucker!!! hee-haw y'all. hey, where y0u been man? how's it going? i don't see around so much lately. or have turned into a lurker?....

Damn, Chip, I didn't realize they were that old. I guess I have been listening to them for 8 years, so it goes to figure I suppose.

That whole "death metal" or whatever you want to call it was pretty long ago. Hell, there's a good damn chance that if you said Biohazard, Slayer, Sepultura, Deicide, etc. most folks these days would look at you like you were from Mars. Fuck, Pantera is 10 years old. Oh shit, I'm getting old. :(

i know what you mean grizz. deicide!!! remember them? damn bro, i am fucking older!... :( and, fyi, 'cowboys from hell' came out in the summer of '90. i remember because that was the summer i broke up with my college girlfriend and i remember learning 'cemetary gates' that summer with a band i was in. it used to bring me to tears (soft and sensitive fucker that i am...). damn that was just the best song, wasn't it? lyrical (anselmo still had a great voice then before back-to-back world tours blew it out for good), heavy, righteous groove, great mosh breakdown and what a fucking solo!!! no, wait, wasn't that like 3 solos?....

No wonder Pantera isn't making any new music. Aside from that last ablum 3 years ago, which kind of sucked anyway, they haven't released anything except a greatest hits.

Something tells me it wasn't so much the singing that ruined his voice. I think the whiskey, cocaine and pot did that. :) I've listened to bootlegs from some of the shows they done and he was wrecked. How many other artists forget the lyrics to their songs? GG did, and you and I know what that means about Phil. Hell, on one bootleg he was talking for like 2 minutes and he finishes with "I don't know what the fuck I just said, but it must have been good listening to you guys." Silly drunk fucker.

yeah man, shame about pantera. but they rocked for many years. good point about phil. heavy boozer, even heavier pot smoker and we all know what the coke can do to your vocal chords. but, ya gotta admit, he did have one of the best voices when they first came out.

Yha hear yha on the phil thread, hes a comdian some of the shit he was sayin at ozz fest a couple of years ago(i got a big dick, then he burps )lol. But i could listen that pounding music with out him singing anyday.Fuck talk about messugha, went to see dio motorhead and iron maiden last year, what a fuckin show.Maiden is so fuckin talented and Dio is always a pleasure to hear, motorhead was loud as ever lol KIK ASS BROS

Gotta love Motorhead.

Chris- Thanks for making this thread. I pulled out my Meshuggah ablum tonight and they really are good. I can't seem to remember why I stopped listening to it. I think it's because I can't understand a goodamn word.

If you like Meshuggah, you might check out Carcass. They're pretty damn bad ass.
