Meso Cigar Corner

In honor of the start of this thread (one of the few I can be useful in), I've got a deal for the first 4 people to quote this message....

I'll give a 5pk of these AVO XO, this box is from 2007 and is a box of smokes that's just hanging around my house.

If you don't have a humidor for them let me know, I'll send a Boveda pack with it and you can turn a Tupperware container into a humidor in 2 seconds.

As far as getting them to you, pm me an address. I don't care about names or anything like that, I'm not going to put a return addy on them either. Just give me an address that they will reach you one way or the other.

Happy Sunday and good luck!View attachment 121962View attachment 121961View attachment 121960View attachment 121959
I could try that

What you wanna know?
The brief history, any pioneers or special brands/years etc. Why is it popular in Cuba? Great soil for tobacco? Cohiba's, I have heard about those but don't know anything about them.<- Ah, Castro's favorite brand huh? Haha, my Dad and Uncle talk about Castro a lot. I have an Uncle still in the Cuban military that I have never met. He basically defected from the whole family, that's gotta be a tough guy by this day and age.

The history lesson I'll leave to Google.

Cuba has 2 main sources of income, tourism and tobacco. Most of the people their smoke cigarettes but not many smoke the branded cigars. They are very poor, of they do smoke they have these cigars called peso cigars. There are 4 brands and they get 50 cigars for a peso. They are allotted one a month.

There are many brands but Habanos SA has them lumped into categories. There are the global brands, Cohiba,HUpmann, Hoyo de Monterrey, Romeo y Julieta, Partagas. The global brands are the only brands to get a Reserva and Gran Reserva edition which there is only one every year. Highly sought after. There are also Regional Editions, Edicion Limitada.... Too much to cover there.

The most iconic cigars are the Cohiba Lancero and Trinidad Fundadores. These are what Fidel smoked.

1999-2001 are considered the worst years for Cuban Cigars, quality of construction was terrible. Also the first years they switch away from the straight Corojo tobacco and moved to a hybrid version.

As far as soil yes, it's like wine, the composition of it has an effect on flavor. Conditions, seed, lineage of the plant.... It's literally like weed and wine.

I could go on for hours about this shit but it's too much to type on my phone and I have t work so google a little and get back to me with anymore questions later.

And I think that taps this out!

Certain Davidoffs are ok, I'm not super well versed in them, Padron are good smokes, I don't smoke them often but really like them when I'm in the mood for one. Gurkha.... The only one I have had is the Cellar Reserve or something like that but it's been years

I don’t think I’ve ever had a davidoff I’ve. Liked. I like the padrons but they are way to expensive.

I judge all my cigars based off the OPUS X lol

Had a few cigars over time but nothing ever really stuck per-se. Seemed like it just made my mouth taste like ash and there was no real taste or the like between any of them. Not sure if I was doing something wrong either or just had cheap crap as I know they weren't expensive or boutique in any way. Thought about trying a pipe at a time but know they definitely take practice and an investment into.

You guys should decide on a date and time and smoke the cigars together and chat about it... I would be there to listen ^.^

I've actually done this a few tests on a cigar forum. Everyone gets on a Google room or something, smokes and shoots the shit. Was a good time but was a bunch of guys that had known each other for a few years via the forum.

Pipe is a commitment for sure.

Yeah which is why I've not forayed into heavily. Have a suggestion for a good flavorful cigar (not NIC strong) without the ash taste (which I'm sure are the quality ones)?

Iceman had some good suggestions up a bit. Those should all be easy to find and not very "ashy"

warch a lot of videos on how to light a cigar. Honestly it’s the most important part of a cigar IMO. Cook the end, it taste like a sock The whole way through. It makes the entire thing smoke “hot” which is super unpleasant.

Check out acid cold infusion or blondies. Both are extremely mild in terms of strength and short in minutes to smoke. Also easy to find, most smoke shops will have.

I decided to buy a pip a couple months ago. Only tried 3 flavors so far. Not a complex flavor of most of the cigars i like.. it does take some practice. $5 in tobacco will smoke for maybe 15yrs though, so cheap after you get a pip, pipe lighter, and some cleaners and stuff.
I plan to try out some sweeter pip tobaccos nxt time i see a big selection

I absolutely love the fact that Titaniums own Lieutenant Cock Polisher himself is up in this thread looking for free handouts!
