I have a hip belt squat and I have been experimenting with different variations of it. One effective technique I have used is a kind of drop set hip belt dumbell squat variation. Let me explain.

load up the hip belt with weight that will normally get you 20 rm on it. I use a ez bar curl for this. Now grab some 25-35lbs dumbells (more or less) in each hand. do some squats, your probably get from 6-10 reps max. Then drop the dumbells and do some more squats till failure.

This will kill your quads, and save your back, have fun!

The hip belt squat is just a variation that I like to use. Im a big believer in the regular full squat and front squat for quads, but sometimes I like to do the hip belt squat for variation and also if my back is still sore or fatigued from deadlifts. It also allows you to place alot of stress on your quads, especially your vastus medialis. Thats why I use the hip belt squat.
