Yeah it sounds like there are lots of good options worthy of a few more trips down to explore. Low crime safe community is top requirement. I don’t want to look out my door and see ghetto rats wandering around thumping their music looking to steal anything not bolted to the ground. Not trying to sound like an asshole, but facts are facts, and I’ll pay more to live somewhere nice it if means I’ll not have to blow Dayquan’s head off when he breaks into my house to take my shit. I’m not gonna deal with that shit in retirement.
I'd really take a look into Port Orange. It's a hidden gem. Close to the coast (5-10 minutes) with almost no crime. The cops are thick there. Great place to raise a family.
If you have the money, the Spruce Creek Fly In and surrounding areas are very nice. It's a gated community with an airport, golf course, it's own security, and is just cool as hell in general. I hung out in that neighborhood a lot growing up, but my parents could never afford living there.

Get out of that shithole and don't look back! That's where I grew up and dude, let me tell ya if I stayed there my life would have absolutely sucked! There isn't anything to do up there, it's boring as fuck and the sun never comes out!! It's just a depressing dump to live in.
After moving to the south and realizing just HOW BAD it was up there, I believe I'd take a minimum wage job in the south over a middle class job up north!!! It's that much of a life changer!!

Yep, I was up there for a wedding last fall. I felt like ppl who stayed there never left the 80's!! Ppl talk smack abt southern rednecks but they have nothing on northern rednecks. At least in the south you see chicks u wanna bang, up there they're still rocking Napolean Dynamite moon boots and stained leggings. They all looked like sasquatch to me.
It was so bad that after being there for 2 days I said to my wife, "we have been here for 2 days now, and I have yet to see one chick I would stick my dick in!"
Her response, as God as my witness, "yea I know, it's pretty rough here"

Lived in "Southie" or south Boston from 8-11yrs old. I made fun of one of my friends in front of a few other kids in school. He turns to me and says" I cant believe you would talk about me like that after I stuck up for you the other day. Someone said you sucked dead $%=÷#^@/ dick and I said Nah! I saw one of them move!" That was from a fellow fourth grader! I still remember it to this day! That was a rough place!
Gotta love 4th graders. 4th grade is like when shit goes from normal to evil. Had a friend in school show me a handgun one day, didn't think anything of it and didn't tell anyone. I knew he was just trying to show me something he grabbed from his dad's closet, I never thought abt a shooting, never crossed my mind. Oh yea, then some kid showed me a rubber he carried with him everywhere in case he was gonna have sex as a 4th grader.
