Mussels what's your opinion?

Hey crew, what is up?

I have found frozen mussels for like 5€ per bag of 1kg (~half a pound and like 5.30$ for non metric people). Seems clean and tastes nice, I like sea food and fish.

Since I live in a pretty poor country or at least below average one, I don't have the luxury to eat steaks and salmon fillets daily or get too exotic with my meals.

My diet staple when it comes to protein source are chicken breast, canned tuna, greek yogurt, whey protein, herring, sardines, curd or dahi (whatever it is called) and dairy protein yogurts at lidl.

So mussels are refreshing, cuz chicken breast daily is getting a bit long in the tooth. So at least on the weekends I want something different without comprising my diet.

What do you think about mussels and such? Do you get them cheap? Do you feel like they are good source of protein? Do you even like them? What are some other stuff you recommend?

P.S. forgot to mention those are boiled and shell free. 100% meat.

Hey Lukiss, how are you?
So good to seeing you :)

I know they contain lots of zinc, like oysters, and are a good protein source.
I like them.
My mum makes an awesome pasta with them.

Ghoul may come say they are full in endotoxins and stuff because they are kind of static, in water, and kind of function like a little filter.

I think they are safe to eat, but idk if they may contain contaminants.

That price you found them at is good.

Have a good Sunday

Hey man, nice to see you too.

Pasta sounds fine. I'm unfiltered motherfucker and eat them alone like an animal lol. I will try something I'm sure when I get bored eating them like that I'll make some meals.

Yeah, my main concern is mercury and other toxins you know. Like you said. I don't want to abuse it. Like tuna is good but only at moderate portions.

Let's ask @readalot who is a tuna + sardines aficionado and connoisseur.

Readalot, do you know if mussels contain too many pollutants?
What do you think is a safe quantity to eat, say x week?
What about sodium levels?

Thanks

I have been known to eat them. They have a good amount of protein so i would use them regularly if i wanted to.
