my progress

Whats up guys,

I've been bulking now for about 7 weeks and I've put on 15 lbs. so far and I've got 5 weeks left before I am gonna start cutting. Does this sound like decent progress? I know I could've probably gained more by taking more MRPs. I ended up only having one in the morning and one at night on lifting days and all other days I just had one . . .they got too expensive. I appreciate your help, and now I have some more questions, I hope you don't mind. I'm looking for advice to begin cutting down. I'm currently 220 at 6'1" and am looking to be 225 by the end of my bulk. After that I'm wondering what I can do with my diet and workout routine to shred the extra fat I've put on from the bulking phase? Should I be going ot the gym more frequently and do more reps with lighter weights? What should and shouldn't I eat? What supplements can help me (i.e. Hot Rox, Xenadrine, etc.)? Thanks guys.

I'm sure a lot of guys do things differently, but my favorite 'no pain' way to cut is to go on a protien and fat, no carb diet.

First two weeks, you go into ketosis, and after that you just watch the fat melt away, and you retain all the muscle.

Got to eat lots of veggies and things with fiber, or you will have bowel trouble though, so be careful to eat something with fiber every meal if you decide to try it.

Since protien only has 4 calories per gram, you can get 2 grams of protien per lb, no problem, and still need fat to get calories up a bit.

This is all natural, no drugs needed, and at least with me, I lose no muscle. Everyone else tells me they lose muscle on a cut, but I don't. I lose no strength, and sometimes can get stronger.

Got to watch for hidden carbs though... they got all kinds of crap out now that say things like "Only one sugar carb!", but when you look, it's got like 10 carbs.

You get to subtract your fiber grams from your carbs, so you can get low carb bread... first two weeks is strict, only 20 grams of carbs max, per day. After that, you get 40. Then it's easy. They even have low carb ketchup.

NO FRUIT, or anything sweet though, that's all carbs. But they have low carb ice cream... 4 grams in a half cup, so you can treat yourself and still lose like a madman.

I'm into my 3rd week, lost a lot of fat. Now I'm waiting for my lipo order to come in so I can do some finishing touches on love handles that won't go away no matter what I do, and some pockets that if gone, will really show off the muscle bellies.

What is ketosis?

What are some healthy high-fiber foods?

Since I'm 220 lbs are you saying I should take in 440g of protein each day b/c I don't think thats possible? I have trouble getting just 220g each day. Also you said to burn fat a protein/fat diet is good w/ little or no carbs. and high fiber . . .this sounds like my diet now. Should I be eating more carbs now so that when I suddenly cut back during my cutting cycle my body will be more apt to burn?

So you don't use any diet aids? I have a pretty slow metabolism so I'm looking for something to boost it. Anyone have any suggestions? I checked out the Drug Facts for the new Hot Rox product and read a couple reviews. Seems pretty convincing . . .any advice?

Thanks,

Ryan

Its not important.

Green leafy vegetables like spinach, romaine lettuce, etc.

1 to 1.5g/lb of bodyweight is sufficient.

400g protein/day is easy. 10 cans of tuna fish. 20 scoops of protein powder. 5lbs of steak. 70 eggs. 15 chicken breasts. Take your pick or mix and match. The latter is probably the better option. ;)

You just described my breakfast (grin).

Actually, that's what I mix and match all day. If you use albacore Tuna, it's 52 grams per can. I use the protien powder as a snack at work when I can't eat a protien bar (and it's a lot cheaper). Also, white fish fillets are a nice fast easy dinner, covered in butter and green herbs... mmm....

But to answer his questions, on Fiber, Green veggies man, that's the key. Eat all you want, just no sauces with carbs in them. Broccolli is the king in my mind.

Other than that, don't avoid fat. You need fat. Don't drink a bottle of olive oil though, just eat what comes along with the meat. Fat has 9 calories per gram, so don't over do, but don't under do.

Read up on the atkins diet, that is the same thing.

Go no carb for 8 weeks and you'll get ripped I bet. At least I do. I'm on my way now. Strength is up. My bench is 10lbs heavier than it was when I started the diet.

I hate to use chemicals man, so don't ask me advice on that. Test is in the body naturally. I'm not afraid of that. I don't even like aspertame man (but dieting you can't avoid it in modern living).

You can take it slow and lose no muscle, or you can go fast, and lose a little. Just eat less. Me, I eat my fill. I don't go hungry at all.

Thanks for the advice guys. Its good to know that green veggies are the ones with fiber b/c I have been eating broccolli and/or lettuce with every meal since I started bulking. I need to read up more on Nutrition Facts b/c I probably do get a ton of protein but never actually credit the natural food with as much as it actually contains.

But there is still that question of change . . .if I am already eating a high protein/fat and fiber diet while bulking, what am I supposed to change in order to start cutting? Do I keep my diet exactly the same? I should at least change my workout regiment, right? This is probably my most important question of all that I need opinions on.

I would still like to hear about anyone's experiences/suggestions/opinions on different ephedra free diet aids. Thanks guys!!

Simply? Eat less. If you are gaining weight at your current level of caloric intake, then less it so that you are in a caloric deficit and can lose fat.

What about my exercise routine? I am guessing that instead of hitting the gym 3 times a week and doing the 5x5 training I should lift 3-4 times a week with lighter weights and more reps as well throw in 4-5 days of cardio. Does that sound about right? I really wanna shred my midsection this time around too but I always come up short. Advice for good cutting exercises/lifts, PLEASE!?

Still looking for input on diet aids.

Thanks,

Ryan

What he said. Don't fall prey to the bullshit they tell you about how cutting routines are high rep/low weight. That's...well, like I said...BULLSHIT. Keep doing exactly what you're doing, especially the 5X5 program, and just eat less and through in some cardio.

so did you finaly get your internet connection on at home then...or are you surfing with the steroid denezins while still at work?

How can you guys function on zero carbs. your brain needs 60 per day just to function. I start getting spacey at 100carbs per day..............11

For one, I don't eat 0 carbs. For two, I don't know, I guess you just get used to it or something.

I, too, have heard the brain thing. I can't say for certain since Bob seems to disagree and I'm sure he's read too much shit to be disagreed with.

Thats two different things. 60g (or whatever amount) of glucose doesnt need to come from carbs. Your body will easily process protein, through gluconeogenesis, to come up with the required amount of glucose. No big deal, but you dont need carbs. Carbs are the only non-essential macronutrient.

I knew you were going to say that, Bob. My friend always used to say gluconeogensis. He was always talking about that. "How's the weather, Jason?" "Well, it's not as cool as gluconeogenesis, but it'd doing alright."

Your friend has issues. lol

I just finished up 2 weeks of the sweetest diet Ive ever used. Got about 4 weeks of results in 2 and could have done even better if I tossed in some t3/clen.
