My visit with Dr Overbeck

Have you ever supplemented with tribulus terrestris?

If so, please list all testosterone levels in relation to taking this supplement.

I have taken tribulus terrestris before, I hated it though because it started to cause gyno. This was actually a little while ago, no blood tests for it. I didn't really feel much from it. I only felt something from tongkat ali, it had me with more energy/staying up later/a little better sex drive but no were near better. Now that got me from 253 to 404. I am sure it helped.

In my opinion you should just really mess with your vitamins and start taking them/vitamin d especially. I now take all of my stuff separately at different times of the day, so they do not counter or interfere with each-other and it works a lot better. But certain things help certain things so research up on different things, I have found lef.org to be extremly helpful with learning about all of this.

His supplementation is just basic neurotransmitter and adrenal support (adaptogens) which is not going to hurt him one bit. Then just a good multivitamin mineral base nothing out rageous.

Gyno = high E2. And what does high E2 do to your HPTA? It inhibits testosterone production. How long did you use the tribulus and at what dosages?

It was about a month, my estrogen levels have consistantly been at 17,17,27,27, 35.. When I stopped tribulus I took clomid and that solved that problem of the somewhat forming gyno. I personally do not like tribulus and believe so many other things need to be looked into, its like shot gunning things with no real benifit. Things were very much messed up before tribulus, but anyway tribulus was kind of an obstacle that got solved quickly. I took tribestan btw. I think it was 1 g a day. If it affect my estrogen levels they are back to normal and they are actually doing very well! I

I took tribestan about a year ago. I trace all of my problems back to the use of that supplement. I think it was 6 tabs/day. I know for a fact that tribestan shut down my natural testosterone production. And I have the friggin lab results to prove it. That shit is not benign. The two things that I really regret doing in my life are (1.) taking tribestan and (2.) self-dosing arimidex (didn't realize that the aftermath of tribestan was causing my "high" e2 levels (35 is not that high btw).)

Tribestan is either spiked with a suppressive compound or shuts down the HPTA through the negative feedback loop. Now I have secondary hypogonadism....one year later!

Wow that's pretty shitty, yeah like I said I had all these problems long before tribestan. That's horrible man can I see your tests? I am interested now lol. What are you currently taking? and are you seeing a doctor? have you stopped self dosing.

Natural testosterone was 590. And this was a 1pm blood draw, not 8am. So my natural healthy testosterone levels are probably much higher than 590. Several weeks after stopping tribestan, my 8 am blood testosterone was 345 and my e2 was 35. My total testosterone as of one month ago was 280, and my bioavailable testosterone was 99 with a ref. range of 110 - 575.

Clearly I have secondary hypogonadism caused by tribestan. I am shut down right now. It actually took me a long time to realize that this is was what happened since so many people claim that tribulus is "harmless."

The problem is that you have no friggin idea what is in most of these supplements.

Yes I am under the care of a doctor that you are familiar with.

I only took arimidex for two weeks about 9 months ago. You think low/not optimal T is bad? How about severely low T and estradiol. I'm glad I didn't kill myself.

I have at points thought that i have hypothyroidism, lyme disease, lupus, etc. My lastest blood results have ruled all of that out: https://thinksteroids.com/community/threads/134288832

Sounds like me, I took a cycle of 17-Methyl bol with Methyl vol, was a hardcore prohormone stack. I felt like a beast while I was on it, best I have ever felt in my life, but about 1 month later is when I started to develop problems. Low test, thyroid problem etc etc (almost 2 years later and I still have the same problems). I am 99% sure that stuff fucked me up because my brother also took the same cycle at the same time as me and about a couple weeks after I started having problems he developed the same problems and also still has them.

Worst decision of my life but I was young and had no clue what I was even taking, plus my pct was shit, some otc stuff that was crap.

I'm thinking about running nolva/clomid to try to jump start but it may be to late now...

Never too late to start
i would do clomid challege to see if you are primary or secondary then if you pass then use clomid , but I would do this under a Dr's supervision other words you can make matters worse. Look what your previous decision got you . Just some food for thought.

So, any updates?

Geez, I have not posted in this tread for a while. HAN and Dr O have been great. They are good listeners and if you show them you've done your homework they typically respect what you have to say.

I have gotten much better since seeing them. My T is up and so is my energy. Right now it is just fine tuning and a few tests every few months.

AFA vitamin d improving testosterone production, just google or scholar it. There is plenty information out there. Adding and restoring vitamin d is generally healthful. Why would anyone question this as a starting point? HAN is pretty conservative in his approach. I agree with this. If I can fix some nutritional imbalances and possibly have a benefit as opposed to drugs, I am going to take that any time. Attacking this style of approach would make me question the attacker's motives.

Vodoo doctor? Is that what everyone gets called now that doesn't go to medical school? I had some tough issues with my adrenals and HAN and Dr. O have been lifesavers. Every "medical school genius" I went to see told me I was fine when I obviously wasn't. The blood tests I had done proved I had some issues going on. I know it wasn't bullshit because I had it confirmed with other Doctor's who study hormones. I think by HAN combining his knowledge with Dr. O they are doing a great thing. It would be nice if Alternative health experts and Medical Doctor's could work together and not bicker. After all, its about the greater good. AND, about Vitamin D. There's been numerous studies as of recent showing low vitamin D related to low testosterone among other things. He's got a point because most of the public do not have adequate levels of that Vitamin in their blood. Especially depending on where you live the US. Vitamin D will be more and more popular and prevent as the days go by.

Dr. O and HAN have pretty much saved my life. They are respectable, knowledgeable, and actually listen. Not to mention reasonably priced. They get my vote for sure. I'd recommend anyone with a unique issue to seek them for advice.

If shbg is still too high then danazol would be the most logical step to bring HCG lowering the shbg will make your e2 more bioavailavble 25 mgs of danazol EVD should do the trick with out adding other necessary stuff to the mix. With SHBG being high like that I would defintely look at insulin deficiency or other imbalances that could play a role in secretion of SHBG. other people are on t3 and have no issue. Why is the question.
