Ive got a huge new batch of *wine* to brew up 6 litres of oil total will need filtering and i really dont want to do it with syringe filters! i remembered when i done a 1 litre batch with syringe filters and it taken like 15 hours lol.

So im looking into bottle top filters.

My question is if i buy a 500ml bottle top filter does that mean that i can only filter 500ml of oil through the filter? or does it mean that it can only hold 500ml at a time? i know they are single use but does that mean i can do 10 x 500ml batches with 1 filter on the same day or does it mean i need 10 x 500ml filters?

Thanks fellas :)

you can use the same filter for the same compound if you are doing multiple batches back to back.
The caveat is.....once the filter starts to clog it goes slower and slower until it stops.
Never had it happen but it would be a bugger to stop half way through something being filtered.
Biggest determining factor in the filters life is how "dirty" the parent gear is

It depends on what it says in the specs. It could mean it's only good for 500ml or that it can hold 500ml in the pre-filter housing but you're not going to get 10-500ml batches from any filter I'm aware of. You'll need about 10 filters or more depending on how many compounds there are. You can reuse the filter provided it doesn't dry in between uses. By that I mean, if you made a batch and filtered then made another batch you can reuse the filter so long as it didn't dry.
