Need Gaba help

Last night I tried GABA and it was hell. After about 5 minutes I had the worst bloating ever.

When I tried GABA I mixed it with ZMA and 3mgs of Melatonin. I wanna use Gaba, but I don't want the bloating. Last night I took about 2g.
 
I've used Gaba and noticed nothing.......nothing.
Bloating can be aided with sodium bicarbonate{baking soda]perhaps add a wee bit o the mix.
 
Gaba seems to worsen pain receptors also. No really good effects. I believe they were going after something with dopamine by seems like crap. I have read that you can feel an effect at a dose of 3-5 grams (or something like that). BUT I would not try based on this statement. look it up on the internet. you will find info about it a mental health sites.
 
I use GABA and it helps me to wake feeling more refreshed. The only drawback I find is that initially after taking it makes me quite short of breath. Are you taking powder or tablets?
 
When I got out of college i used GABA,Pro-Hormones, Whey Protein and ECA stack to lose 150lbs. to get into the Army's Aviation program! I think GABA is great stuff. I never had bloating from it just from the Whey protein when I first started useing it. You do need to take about 3grams for it to be effective and you should not have eaten anyting 2-3 hours before takeing it. I normaly drink about 2 quarts of water or sugar free cool aid like stuff with it and have had no problems.

I recently started using it again to see if it would improve my sleep. My testicles have increased in size and they are nice and ahrd so it is doing something good for my HPTA! Their is a drug that some inthe mens health section are trying that is based on GABA and they are all excited about it. I cannot see using a drug that requires a Rx when I can get the thing it is derived from for next to nothing and no script required. Since you can feel the effects as long as you take it on a truly empty stomach by itself I do not see how anyone could fail to see that it is working you can feel it working!

I also do not go through withdrawl sysptoms if I forget to take my pain medication first thing int hemorning. Not only have I been on long term opiates for pain but I recently had surgery and am recovering from surgery. My pain is the lowest it has been inyears so I do not think that it does anything to increase your perception of pain. In fact I am taking fewer pain pills then ever!

No fat is not melting off me but that is not why I take it. It seems to be doing a lot of good for my pain, my HPTA and other health parameters with out any negative side effects outside the strange feeling you get when you first take it each night. I am considering taking it morning when I first wake up and evening that is how good I think this stuff is.

I would try eating soemthing like a protein shake after you feel the effects of it wearing off that might help with any bowel problems you are having.


Also it is banned in the U.K. so you know it works when a country banns it!LOL

this is interesting to me, as i think i need to start adding this to my preworkout shake now that arginine is a no-no...

Abstract

Oral administration of the amino acid/inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) reportedly elevates resting serum growth hormone (GH) concentrations.

PURPOSE: To test the hypothesis that GABA ingestion stimulates immunoreactive GH (irGH) and immunofunctional GH (ifGH) release at rest and that GABA augments the resistance exercise-induced irGH/ifGH responses.

METHODS: Eleven resistance-trained men (18-30 yr) participated in this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study. During each experimental bout, participants ingested either 3 g of GABA or sucrose placebo (P), followed either by resting or resistance exercise sessions. Fasting venous blood samples were acquired immediately before and at 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 min after GABA or P ingestion and were assayed for irGH and ifGH.

RESULTS: At rest, GABA ingestion elevated both irGH and ifGH compared with placebo. Specifically, peak concentrations of both hormones were elevated by about 400%, and the area under the curve (AUC) was elevated by about 375% (P < 0.05). Resistance exercise (EX-P) elevated time-point (15-60 min) irGH and ifGH concentrations compared with rest (P < 0.05). The combination of GABA and resistance exercise (EX-GABA) also elevated the peak, AUC, and the 15- to 60-min time-point irGH and ifGH responses compared with resting conditions (P < 0.05). Additionally, 200% greater irGH (P < 0.01) and 175% greater ifGH (P < 0.05) concentrations were observed in the EX-GABA than in the EX-P condition, 30 min after ingestion. GABA ingestion did not alter the irGH to ifGH ratio, and, under all conditions, ifGH represented approximately 50% of irGH.

CONCLUSIONS: Our data indicate that ingested GABA elevates resting and postexercise irGH and ifGH concentrations. The extent to which irGH/ifGH secretion contributes to skeletal muscle hypertrophy is unknown, although augmenting the postexercise irGH/ifGH response may improve resistance training-induced muscular adaptations.
