New member and test results

Greetings all,
I am a 42 year old male and I went to my doctor with complaints and he ran some tests. The results are below and I wanted some comments from you experienced guys.

Free testosterone 69.8
Total testosterone 426

Free Estrodiol 0.52
Total Estrodiol 25
Cholesterol Total 198
Triglicerides 59
HDL 61
LDL 125

The doctor is starting me on 1CC cyp every two weeks and will be putting me on a drug to lower the estrogen. Also, he said I should modify my diet a little to lower the LDL to 100 or below. He will be doing cortisol tests over the next month.

Comments? Is this enough cyp to make a difference?

Ummmmmm whats the Strength of the CYP?
50, 200. 250 mg's???????????????

We really need some more info dash.. What specifically were the complaints you brought to your Doc's attention? What are your lab's reference ranges for the #'s you posted? (Ex. My lab's range for total testosterone is 260-1,000) What medication were you given for estrogen? And, as urbadside said, what concentration Cyp are you using? (100mg/ml, 200mg/ml?)

No one can really say if a given amount of Cyp is enough. While there are average doses, it's dependant upon the individual. (Off hand though, I'd say the average dose for most here is probably 100mgs/week, given as 0.5ml of 200mg/ml Test Cyp.)
Future lab results plus how you feel will determine the course of treatment.

I can only tell you what I would do. It poses logistical problems, but test cyp should be dosed weekly. That is to even out the serum androgen levels. But the same weekly dose--100mg--is what I start my guys out on, too.

You do not need to lower your estrogen. In fact, it would be unhealthy to do so. It's perfect where it is.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I asked the nurse on my last shot and she said I am taking 2cc which is 400mg of cyp every 12-14 days. I think I may request 200mg every week as you suggest swale but the problem with that is that I will have to make it to the doc once every week and that is just so hard with my job. I also asked the doc what the drug is that is being prepared for the estrogen and he said it is zinc and has a mild effect with some other benefits. I still have not done the cortisol tests but hope to in the next few weeks. I also hope to make muscle gains from my weight lifting now that I am getting a little more testosterone going. Any other things that I can do to supplement the effects of the testosterone?

Thanks for your replies guys!

I am not suggesting 200mg per week. That is a ridiculously high initial dose, as it will take most men to twice the top of normal range--and therefore is no longer "TRT".

I start my guys at 100mg and go up from there.

Check out the Zinc thread sticky I posted here. Zinc is useful when correcting a deficiency, but is not healthy above that.

Swale: Interesting...so how many of your patients take 200mg per week vs the standard 100mg per week? I never had any success on 100mg per week and find that 200mg per week is what it takes to keep my levels at about 1,000 and my mind ticking along like it should be. BTW: PM me and I'll share the name of my Doc with you..perhaps you know him?

Unless there are extenuating circumstances, I start most everyone out at 100mg per week. If it truly takes 200mg per week to get you there, then I think you should have it, too. However, you are on a hormonal rollercoaster with a regimen like that, and are unnecessarily causing accelerations in estrogen levels.
