Hi guys. First post here so I short introduction

Age - 27

Lifting - 5 months total ( natural )

Been following doug's mass builder for ectomorph's
Link to routine : http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/dougs-mass-building-routine-for-ectomorphs.html

Gains are coming , chest and tricep were pretty much non-exsistant before I started lifting. There has been some real development in those areas , visibly , not so much. I feel like my gains are quite slow but what is achievable / realistic naturally is something I have no clue about despite searching for logs etc.

ATM I use creatine , protein powders and I use orange triad multi-vitamin.

Diet is not fantastic but I make sure I get a lot of protein (150g) and 3300-3500 cals per day. Which is not easy for me. I get full really quickly. In fact I don't remember the last time I felt Hungary except after waking up lol.

I M thinking about using AAS. I don't think I'm ready to use to be perfectly honest.atm. I have told my partner who would support me and my sister is a nurse so I can be taught in person how to pin correctly. So I've got that out of the way.

Slow gains are one reason for thinking about them but I get a lot of trouble from my joints , being an ectomorph's my bones / joints are quite small and I've had take 4-5 days off 3-4 times in 5 months because of my shoulder. The orange triad is really helping in this regard , however hurting my joints is something I need to constantly be thinking about.

I was hoping AAS could help in this regard. Would it? And if it does is it only while your on ?

Anyone got any suggestions of joint health I'm all ears. ATM I'm relying on the orange triad , however kind of sick of washing down 6 massive tablets everyday :P

So that's abit of my story.

Welcome to meso my friend. You have come to the right place I your considering using AAS. If you decide to take that step there are so many guys here that know everything about running cycles, diet, training, etc. I suggest continue reading about what AAS can do for your body both the positive and negative and if you have ANY questions don't be afraid to ask.

Welcome brother! I have had multiple knee surgeries and a arthritic shoulder. My OTC remedey with or without AAS is 4 grams of fish oil and 300mg of hyaluronic acid daily. Sometimes a bit more of the HAcid at times but I use the above doses as a minimum. Hope this helps, good luck bro!

Welcome to meso bro. Invest in a food scale so you can measure your protein per day. 2g of protein per 1lb of weight is the way to keep building lean muscle. So if your 200lbs you need 400g of protein per day to keep building lean mass. You can use aas whenever you want since your a grown man. With that being said most will tell you to train for a few years to achieve your natural genetic limits first. Put some real time in the gym first. Find out what works for you. If you want to be a mass monster you have to eat like one. Research on what to eat an what not to. Get all of your protien through your food. Dont rely on protein powders for your protien intake. Their are no substitutes for REAL NUTRICIOUS FOODS. Study every aspect of body building befor you make the leap. Once you have a few years of studying, training, dieting, an reasearcing aas an feel totally comfortable with all these aspects an got the right routine down then you can really push yourself above an beyond. I'm not telling you what to do I'm just saying what I an most of meso are feeling. Good luck to you bro an I hope you achieve everything you set out for in life;)

Thanks all.

Thanks mate , never heard of that acid. Will take a look.

@Skull

Yeah defiantly need a better food scale.I don't get to much from protein powders only have a couple of servings a day. One with a weight gainer i make an the other after working out.

I am going to be holding off for now on aas for that reason, Still don't know to well what works best for me etc so would want to know this sort of thing really. Or at the very least be more confident that i'm making solid progress on a regular basis.

Thanks for the kind words bro's

Welcome to MESO from the women's section here! Double you're daily protein intake for starters, and get on a good MSM and Glucosamine supplement daily. It will take about 90 days to start feeling a difference in you're joints. Good Luck with you're training! ;)

Welcome to Meso. I would advise you to read up here before starting any cycle. You will soon learn that you needed more info b4 cycling. Good luck.

Welcome from a fellow hard gainer..! I know all about the weight gain struggles as I was once 140 lbs at 6 foot tall.....

theres a shit tonne of info and advice here so read away!

Welcome Bro! I too am a hard gainer. Started around 155 now I walk around @ 215. So you can get there. But it took me 10 hard years to put that much weight on so it doesn't come easy or fast.

There's already a lot of good advice hear from some good guys. The only advice I would like to give you is hold off a little while from using anything. Get used to training hard, it takes a long time for weight training to truely become a "lifestyle". When you can't go 1-2 days without feeling like a pussy for not going to the gym. Then you're almost there! But in the end you're a grown man so you can make your own decision.

That being said good luck man and never be afraid to ask a question. A professor once told me in college "The only stupid question is one not asked!"

Cheers mate. Aye done a shit ton Of reading tbh , the more I read the easier it is to make the decision to wait. Currently working on making my own diet , it's not going to be great to start with , I'm a long way off eating scrambled eggs and asparagus for breakfast. I'm going to go with foods I can enjoy as for my first strict diet my main concern is going to be getting the food in. Then after I manage that I can work on making it cleaner.

For breakfast I'm thinking , and before I get jumped on remember my main focus is hitting protein and overall cal numbers , not "cleanness"

2 slice brown bread
3 egg white
2 bacon
1 slice of Dairylea

From myfitness pal I d got that as

434 cals
39grams protein
33grams carbs
15g fat (7saturated)

Should I be getting more carbs at breakfast though?

That's about as far as I've got on the diet side of things. I will be trying to make my own protein meal replacement bars this weekend. Can't wait.

Sounds just like me bro. When I stopped lifting for a couple weeks , I scrapped bulking aswell. But I carried on tracking how many calories I consume out of interest , I wanted to know what my consumption had been like before lifting .

The results were shocking to say the least , I came to the conclusion that for the majority of my adult life I'd been consuming 1000-1500 cals a day.

It wasn't unusual for me to leave for work and come home at 3pm and have not eaten anything at all. No wonder I've always been skin and bones.
