I think a lot of it comes down to age and how you got your start in 'the game'. For those of us who were in the game back before you could just google "steroids for sale" and find hundreds of places selling gear (mostly bunk), we have a different appreciation for the value of a relationship with a solid source. I am not that old, but I have been around the steroid game since back before the internet (early 90's). Back then your sources came from a dude at your gym, or someone you knew from your hometown. But it came with a cost - you didn't expose your sources no matter what, because they knew you and could find you easily.
Now, people are reckless, hopping on boards where they don't know anyone and saying "vets tell me your best source". It's just a different world. People talk too much. I get guys coming up to me at the gym assuming I am on the juice and talking to me about their cycle and asking what I think they should take. I am not a dick about it, I just brush it off and play dumb mostly, but I am amazed at how reckless people are about it.
