No Iron for a month before cycle

I want to cut out weights and the excess calories in order to lower my BF% probably around 20-25% at the moment. What do you guys think about dropping the weights for a month and just concentrate on cardio and lowering calories than hitting a cycle in a month?

Lifting weights is going to be your main source for elevating BMR. I would continuing lifting while reducing caloric intake and increasing cardio. Just my 0.02

Yea!! There's no reason to cut out lifting if your goal is to reduce BF%!!

Have you thought about hitting the treadmill first to get your heart rate up to a fat burn level, then hitting the weights with short periods of rest, then get back on the treadmill to get your heart rate up to the cardio level at the end?

Diets been shit lately and I honestly feel like I'm waisting time lifting if my diets not on par. Am I wrong sticking with just cardio till I start a cycle and have time/resources to clean up my diet?
Thanks for all the input

Anaerobic exercise only results in an elevated BMR for brief intervals and for that reason DIET is much more important than for those who perform aerobic exercise on a regular basis.

Before someone says WTF ...... understand I'm referring to the form of lifting performed by POWERLIFTERS. This type of anaerobic exercise intentionally limits the cardiac response to brief rises in HR. The net effect is these folk don't raise their BMR to burn calories unless they are in the gym. while a mate whom performs aerobic exercise may maintain an elevated BMR for up to 24 hours to burn calories.

Now the same benefit of aerobic activity can be achieved thru "circuit training" but the compromise is a reduction in muscular growth at least to some extent.

If you want to get BIG its low reps, high weight and a prolonged recover interval.

If you want to be lean and mean reduce the weight lifting and start aerobics.

NOW THAT I OPENED A PANDORA'S BOX LET THE REAL DISCUSSION BEGIN :)

Diet, diet, diet. Stop lifting doesnt make sense at all.

This question is as old as BB itself. Let's assume some one wants to be Arnie AND has Arnies genes, yea right, lol!

Ok anyway the question is to reach their Arnie goal should they:
FIRST loose the body fat achieving their IBW and then put on muscle
OR should they put on the muscle and lose the BF over time.

IMO both are effective but absent an appropriate diet the goal to become Arnie will be considerably prolonged or never even realized.

I certainly agree to completely stop lifting is a huge error bc THAT'S what causes muscles to hypertrophy. Consequently if you cease lifting whatever muscular development you have achieved will be for not (at least to some degree) since ATROPHY will ensue!

I've always found it a lot more easy to loose the excess BF first

Youre being very philosophical tonight Doc lol Ive been on both ends of the spectrum and couldnt agree more. I get pissed at my dad because he does the starvation diets just to get fatter than ever after. Diet is the most under rated aspect of BB in my opinion. Theres really no gimmicks when it comes to diets.

Very true

I was at about 25% at my heaviest a few years ago. I lifted and gradually figured out diet and cardio. When the fat came off I had a physique I hadnt seen in years. Find a diet that you can turn into a lifestyle. I suggest carb cycling.

Don't you want to maintain the muscle mass you do have while losing the fat? As much as you can anyway? Then keep lifting. This is pretty basic knowledge, are you sure you are ready to cycle?

I suggest maybe considering intermittent fasting. Regardless, if we're talking time constraints, sure, more cardio and less lifting may be ideal. But I would say ideally you want to keep LBM up to keep BMR elevated. To do this, you need to watch protein intake and keep lifting heavy weights while in a caloric deficit or atrophy is unavoidable.

You will loose more bf if you increase your lbm. You can be a fat ass with a nice phsique hiding underneath. If you loose fat without lifting youll just be skinny.

Hot damn I only WISH my patients could grasp these concepts. But there is one HUGE problem mate, building muscle requires activity, and perhaps God forbid I say it, exercise!

The response after my similar, fall onto deaf ears, 10 min educational session often is, "but hey Doc can't you just give me a pill"?

Of course it's not far removed from the patient who "needs antibiotics". However after a thorough eval and informing him/her "I've got good news bc your symptoms are caused by a virus and antibiotics are of no benefit "he/she joyfully replies "great then a shot of Penicillin should work Doc"!

Damn why didn't I think of that :)

.

Plan on getting bloods? Pre and during? If so, should post a cycle log or at least post your blood results.

And this is the problem with people today. Everybody wants to be successful and look great but no one wants to earn it.

We see it all the time on here when a woman joins. Typically the first question is how fast can I lose weight with anavar. They dont like the truth and leave within the day. The world is full of obese, fat slobs. Laziness is a sin in my book.
