I have not had any issues with my whatmans nor has anyone I have known who use them. I don't think it makes a difference.

Usually you'll get about 100-200ml through them before they slow down. You should only use them for what they're rated for though so if it says 500ml, only run through 500ml max. If you don't do the max amount in one batch you can do multiple batches but make sure he filter doesn't dry in between batches. Once it dries throw it out no matter what.

More BA doesn't mean better sterility. I always use 1% and nothing else.

No shortcuts. Re Filter it. Why chance an abscess if you don't have to. Heating and adding more bb isn't what you need to do. That won't help.
