noob Going from ill to Ripped?

Haha no, not ripped, just healthy.

I had a lot of health issues my whole life, culminating in a kidney transplant last Nov. From the dialysis before hand I had/have no muscle tone whatsoever. I'm 5'3, (short i know..) and weight 129lbs am sitting at about 14-16% BF depending on the day. I'm "skinny fat" all the fat i have is my midsection.

Long story short, my back is fucked with scoliosis/kyphosis so my docs dont want me to do any ab work or or anythng that draws my spine inward.... So what can i do for core exercizes if i cant do crunches or the like? And any advice to someone just starting out from absolutely nothing?

I appreciate any advice you could give
 
I would consider yoga or palates if you are starting from scratch. I don't know what movements you are comfortable doing, but both of these focus on core strength, and are way harder than they look. If you're just starting out, I'd say give these a go at home, and see what poses/positions you feel comfortable with, and then consider joining a class.
