Office visit with SWALE

Yesterday I went to Lansing to see SWALE. Anyone that has thought about visiting with him should go do it. I made it a one day trip and he was very helpful in working me into his schedule. It was amazing how much he knew and how helpful he was to me. SWALE is a great guy who is very serious in helping his patients and understands the perspective of an athlete. I just got back from the lab and I will keep everyone posted on my experience with him.

Good stuff! I should probably make the long journey myself and save myself the trouble of dealing with physicians that are incompetent at administering proper TRT for the rest of my life. I seem to be one of the few that needs roughly 200mg of testosterone cypionate/week in order to maintain serum testosterone and free testosterone in the upper half of the range. As of right now, I have a prescription that says '1 cc q week', but every time I visit the physician, he attempts to convince me to dose it q 2 weeks. Despite that fact that I gave me 'TRT: A Recipe for Success' and despite the fact that he says it was a very good paper, he seems to remember NOTHING from it. But, I put up with the trouble because my labwork is only covered if it is billed by the physician.

With as much business as SWALE sends to the local lab, he should consider negotiating a resonable rate for his patients. The list prices for these labs are unresonably high; the insurance companies pay 80-90% less. I feel that the labs do it this way so that they can get a very good tax write-off for the customers that don't pay. That's bad gov't policy and unethical behavior on the part of the labs in my book.

My reasoning for seeing SWALE was that I could waste my time with doctors in this area or spend the money for a plane ticket and get it done right. I'm not a patient person and I don't like wasting my time. Dr. John gave me a game plan of three steps if one doesn't work. I haven't seen my blood results yet, but I am excited to get started. As far as lab prices, I used my insurance card and I hope that they pay a lot.

Since you used your insurance card, even if the insurance company pays nothing (because of a deductable or something), you will probably only pay the negotiated rates.

Never mind your being impatient. You are receiving treatment from one of the world's BEST TRT physicians. Well worth the minimal cost.

I agree, my local rejuvenation clinic sold me growth hormone recently but they don't know anything about TRT and this is important to me. That's why I booked a flight and am going to see Dr. C. in Lansing in about a week.

A thought on Insurance. Quest labs billed my ins. co. $1536 for my lab work.
The ins. co. "discounted" $1356 their bill then they had me pay my $150 ded.
and then they picked up the rest. What makes me mad is that if I didn't have
ins. I would be on the hook for the entire bill.

Just my experiences.

He does care

I telephoned his office right after it closed to get some information
regarding insurance etc... I also left some info regarding my health situation
as well. He actually called me to discuss my questions. He was pleasant and knowledgeable. He does care about your health and welfare ! I am definitely
impressed. How many physicians will actualy call you at home these days?

Thanks Swale

Michael,
I agree. It's impressive that he takes the time to call patients at home. He even called me at the airport. Class act and really seems to care about his patients.

Exactly! I went through something very similar, which enlightened me to this situation. The non-insurance prices are a scam. They should at _least__ show the patient the cost PRIOR to doing the bloodwork.
