Once a week workouts?

Just curious, but is anyone working out just once a week and getting similar results as a 4 to 5 times a week routine?

Read a few posts of guys saying once a week was enough for them. My opinion is it's not. Muscle protein synthesis is only elevated so long after stress. Many do at least twice a week for most muscle groups.

Genetically some guys can likely get away with it but not for most. I think for the average Joe the question is sometimes 3x week full body vs 4,5,6 days of splits/iso. A lot of guys get great results just full body 3x a week vs numerous days of splits and vice versa.

At 50 and suffering numerous injuries requiring surgery I started doing legs one day a week and upper body one day a week with no more than 12 total work sets...at the time I was benching around 340-350...i continued to at least hold onto strength and size....I am now 60... I am considering doing chest and triceps once a week and back and biceps once a week plus a leg day...I recently benched 319 at a USPA meet weighing 220....

Good damn job!

If you’re on cycle working out 1 day a week or 5 it doesn’t make a significant difference. Mostly because protein synthesis is sky high all the time while on cycle. It’s make more of a difference in your conditioning or if you’re natural.

There is a scientific study that 2x/week training beats once/w
That's for natural bodybuilding, though.

If anything, juice worsens the (1x, 2x/w) difference as recovery reportedly hastens up.
