lateral epicondylitis (tendonitis) is commonly reffered to as tennis elbow. The wrist and finger extensors all arise from the lateral epicondyle (on the and the origin can become inflamed through a variety if causes(usually the extensor carpi radialis brevis is the main culprit). the best remedy is a reduction in activities which flex and extend the wrist as this allows the tendinous junction some time to heal. Analgesics can certainly help and some find that OTC elbow bands can reduce pain. The elbow bands (or wraps) place constant pressure just distal to the epicondyle and provide temporary relief. Rest and a reduction in demand on the affected tissue is the best remedy. More invlolved therapy can include immobilization of the wrist via a brace, glucocorticoid therapy, and in severe cases removal of diseased tissue and reattachment of the musculature. Just take it easy and back off the demand on the affected arm.
