Oral minoxidil

I went to one of the most respected hair loss clinics in the country if not the world... doctors there lecture to other hair loss doctors and write the textbooks.

They wanted me to take oral minoxadil (and finasteride) for a year before doing a transplant to thicken up the hair and give better results. Why oral? Because it's cheap, like $10/month for generic. Plus you probably get more consistent use with oral. Personal opinion, I think about things like accutane vs retin-a and pulmicort vs prednisone and oral usually is more powerful too, but they didn't say that.

Not sure about the dose. I decided not to do it.

Never used oral minoxidil myself but have heard even on low doses as you described can cause problems down the line from cardiovascular health issues, I know rapid heartbeat is one of them.
Kevin mann from haircafe discusses this in some of his videos, give it watch mate to see if your interested.

I was tempted to give it a try but went with 1mg of finasteride everyday.
On 200mg of test now every week.

Im Not getting any sides from finasteride and been on a good few months.

I know finasteride has more side effects but not every one gets them.

Just my 2 cents though.

Good to hear man your not getting sides from oral minoxidil.
Some of the sides from oral minoxidil put me off.
Know it doesn't happen to everyone though, but I just didn't want to chance it.

Works great.
I started oral minoxidil just before summer, I'm amazed at the new growth I get everywhere.
I never responded to topical minoxidil even after a year of application, I just lack the sulfotransferase enzyme in my skin.

However when taken orally it goes through the liver where there is plenty of this enzyme.

Don't bother with pills just buy the liquid version, and take 3 drops throughout the day (which amounts to a total of 5mg).

Whered you buy it from? Any systematic side effects?
 
My only concern with oral minoxidil - and I don't know if this is even a valid concern - is that the hair growth could be where I don't want it, as opposed to where I do want it. With topical application I choose where to apply it

Doesn't oral grow hair everywhere?
 
@Aeons still trying to calibrate dosage as it causes heart palpitations.
Have stoped for now and will soon resume at 2.5mg once a day.
 
Been using topical minoxidil as oral now for almost 2 months. Much better results in those 2 months than I did have with previous 2 attempts at topical 6+ months. Dose is 1 squirt from the topical bottle, as it is 50mg/ml and I'd say the dose is about 10-25mg. Mixed into a drink, doesn't taste like anything. No side effects. Body hair growth is hard to say is it more or less since I started hairy and the AAS used will definetly increase it anyway.

Yeah, wouldn't that be the case with oral? I am struggling to see why people even use oral.
