Over 40

I don't do squats or heavy deads anymore. I know. I know. Old age. Bad back. Walking and standing up straight for a few more years is still important to me. I'm in my fifties and feeling a little torn up. I still work through a bad shoulder, but I listen to it and adjust as needed.

Most of my stuff is is the 8-10 rep range, but I like to throw in some work in the 4-5 range. That's where it really sucks the wind out of me. I don't think I need 3-4 minutes, but I could put my ego aside and see how it is with two minutes.
Does your gym have a belt squat? That was a game changer for me. They put in a Rogue belt squat platform at the gym by my office. No low back pain on leg days anymore. Though I still like to squat once in a while. But keep it below 300.

Yeah similar to what I'm doing now. I'll be 60 in about 10 days and I can't recover going with low reps every workout.
Nowadays I'll spend at least 30 minutes stretching prior to hitting the weights.
I find it very helpful to stretch after doing anything with my shoulders. It relieves the stiffness I would feel for days otherwise.

I find stretching and warmups prior to workouts do help.

I'll be 41 in a month. Biggest difference for me in training is that 90% of the time I'm using a weight that I could get at least 12 reps with, but I make it challenging by squeezing harder, slowing rep speed down, 3/4 reps for time under tension, etc etc.

My physique is much more put together than it was when I was training heavy, however recovery is harder now.

Are you currently running anything? Go get a full blood panel. Perhaps something is off and making you feel that way.
Also, if you're just getting back into it expect your energy levels to improve as you progress. Eat clean and get restful sleep.
I am on trt, 250test 200 primo.
I have been training for more than 20 years without ever stopping but in recent years I have noticed a decrease in strength.
A little is the fear of injuries, I have a little pain between shoulders, elbows, back and therefore I can no longer lift the weights of a few years ago(squat, deadlift...) even though I am much in better shape now.

I had my share of serious injury over the years but I overcame them pretty much so I have to be careful with my neck.
