Ever time I do stright bar curls my damn forearms hurt like high. I dont get this because my forearms are a nice size 15" but only on the stright bar curl do they hurt. Is there anything i can do to stop this pain other then stop the curls altogether??

I've never been able to do straight bar curls for that reason. I always have to use a cambered bar.

No there is nothing you can do..I suffered with the same condition. You MUST stop doing straight bar for about a month or month and a half. Anytime I see someone post with "forearm pain" the first thing that comes to mind is "are they doing straight bar curls" and whalla you are. The more you do them, the more your going to irritate the muscle.

Let me see how I can explain this...it's due to the length of the bar and the amount of weight on it. Depending on your grip..mine is close to medium..your forearms have to "balance" the weight that is stretched from one side of the bar to the other. There is alot of tension being placed on the forearms to control the amount of weight that is distributed from one end of the bar to the other and it all comes to focus on one spot...the forearm (your forearm is like the equilibrium). The first part of the curl is the forearm and it has to absorb the intial tension of the lift from the lowest part of the curl (at your waist)..as your proceed up with the curl the bi's take over. So again all the weight that is distributed evenly across the bar comes to rest on your forearms which are in a small confined area causing great tension in the forearm muscle. I hope I made some sense, if not I'm sorry.
As far as working the muscle bro, I'm sorry you will have to stop. There is no remedy for soreness. I tried the route you went and it just gets worse. You have to lay of straight bar for at least a month. Trust me you'll be happy you did...achy forearms suck bro I hear ya

You could have a strength imbalance between your opening and closing muscles of your hand. Many people with this problem have the symptoms you just described.

You need to train the opening movement. One remedy is the "Outer Limit Loop" from www.ironmind.com. Its about $20. Do curls with this. You'll need to order the plate pin loader too.

If you're broke, get a bucket of sand or rice. Jam your hand into it real deep, and open your fingers against the resistance of the sand.

The final option is to use a rubber band and open your fingers against it.
