The Lakers do slack, especially when they think the team will be easy. They play with heart and desire when they need to. The Spurs were an awesome team, even had the Lakers down 0-2, and look what happened to them..

when you talk about talent now, you are really down to only Kobe and shaq, not that that is a bad thing, they are 2 of the best players in the league. Malone and Payton are done. Malone is a warrior so he will play, but I don't know how effective he will be, and Payton is on his last leg. They will need someone to step up again like Walton did for the rest of the series, and fact is they are not a deep team. Pistons in 6 fellas.

I think fisher will come around. Paytons done, he sucks. Malone is just a tank , hes done to but has heart and can be effective from time to time. Shaq/Kobe/phil will rise when its needed. With the next 3 away, they may be in for some really tuff fucken games.

i still think the lakers will play. If malone is injured or runs out of gas they are in trouble though. Lakers had to play real teams to get here. I hope he goes to the knicks or some loser team and gets his scoring title and loses for the rest of his career. I didnt get to see the game but I can picture the forced shots that he made. Wonder why they didnt go in. He is an every other game player at best. Closer to 1 good game for every 2 bad ones.

I don't like how this is becoming a knick bashing thread. The knicks will be a playoff team for the foreseable future in the East with or without Kobe. I think we all need to concentrate on whats important, and that is the Pistons will be the NBA champions this year, coming out of the "inferior" East, or as Stephen A. Smith liked to call it, the NBA's "minor league".

Everyone plays their hardest against the lakers. They had a very tough road. Pistons road to the finals would be similar to them playing the top colleges teams. Give some props here.

Yea you're absolutely right in saying the East is much weaker than the West, and for the most part it's about big men. I just think it's funny that a team from the East is going to take the title, that's all. As for Kobe on the knicks I am torn. I mean who wouldn't want to see Kobe on thier team, but the knicks don't have any room on the cap to sign him, so it would have to be a sign and trade, and they will be giving up a lot to get him. On the other hand, if the deal involves Tim Thomas, i would welcome it, I think he's the biggest pussy in the league.
