Hey brothers and sisters I just want to know what you guys think is the best workouts for your lower chest

Sorry to dive in on this but the controversy with db flys, some swear by them, I personally don't see the difference between a db press from the shoulder to elbow and a fly if that makes sense.

you can't isolate your lower chest sorry. pecs are 1 muscle theres no such thing as upper and lower chest sorry

lots of people do. I like to use many exercises to train my pecs muscle confusion is key. I use different movements every pec day. Its still all the same muscle though.

It is still all the same muscle, but from what I understand, it's totally possible to isolate them into parts. That's what I learned. I could be wrong though since I'm no expert.

So if I were to only do incline presses, do you think my entire pectoral muscle would develop the same as it would if I was doing incline flat and dips?

It's true that there is no upper and lower chest but, it's also true that different lifts and working angles will stress ascending, descending and lateral fibers to a different degree.

There is absolutely no way to isolate each of the individual chest muscles. It is impossible. You can find movements to increase the activation of one or another but this is not isolating.

But that isn't isolation.

Yeah I agree. I didn't say isolation, isolation lifts are actually a bit few and far between really. I guess that term can be misunderstood especially when talking about the upper lower chest debate.

This was really my point aside from the isolation part. The increase in activation is the difference.

Thanks so much for educating me on the topic. I tried Googling but there is so much conflicting information out there.

PS doc, you're a PL aren't you supposed to only post using terms like max effort, dynamic effort, halotestin and poptarts... Not muscle activation.;)

Here is a study that touches on this topic some -->>

How do you rate db pull overs for chest? Don't see people do them all that much.

I personally like pullovers, the only reason i dont do them much is because i workout alone and its kind of a pain in the ass to get into position with any DB over 80 lbs

I dont do them often, But dumbell decline presses give me DOMS in my lower outside edge of pecs like no other exercise. I am sure dips do the best to give na overall workout to the lower portion of the pecs but some people like myself, they bother shoulders
