I notice that I am sometimes suffering from post workout nausea and I really want to know why because it doesnt make sense. I'll give you a run down of my diet/activities leading up to the near vomitting episode so you know the background...
5:30am - wakeup and down 1 litre of water with creatine (Swole V.3)
5:55am - Down a mug of rice milk with a serve of egg white protein powder
6:40am - Start my gym workout having relaxed and given my body time to at least somewhat digest the protein drink. About 15 mins before workout starts I down a portion of a hydrocortisone tablet (6mg)
7:35pm - Finish my workout having pushed extremely hard and gradually gone through 600ml of water. Noted a slight feeling of nausea about this time so I doused myself in water to cool off (I find this tends to help). I normally drink a 750ml creatine/water mix at this stage but I felt nauseous and knew it wouldnt stay down so I just went home.
7:45pm - I get home the nausea was extreme so I dived under a cold shower which seemed to make the urge to vomit go away... Then
8:25am - after the shower I start overheating and the nausea comes back stronger than ever before... This time I stand wet/naked in front of a fan to keep cool but im still sweating profusely.. I manage to avoid vomitting by holding my outbreath... and then after sitting down for about 15 mins I'm recovered enough to take in my usual protein shake etc. I felt fine the rest of the day if a little pained by my morning experience...
Can anybody explain this kind of nausea. It would make more sense if it came about towards the end of the workout due to possible over-reaching, but it did'nt. It came about a good 10 mins after the end of the workout when I was effectively relaxing. Is it possible that I had boosted my own cortisol levels substantially by pushing so hard in the workout, and then post workout they went unusually high due to the 6mg hydrocortisone coming into its full effect (1 hour after consumption). ?? Is it lactic acid buildup??? I'm real confused given that the nausea developed during what is basically the rest phase....
Cheers
