Post Workout Shake

OK . . .so basically this is just a branch off of the thread about sugars. So is it really not good to be mixing my 40g of whey and 5g glutamine with apple juice? (even if it is 100%) or any other fruit juice? Would I be better off mixing it in water with some dextrose powder as my simple sugar? If so, how much should I throw in there? Any other suggestions for a good post workout shake?

Thanks guys,

It depends on if you're trying to lean, bulk, or just don't care either way. If you're trying to lean out, I'd say go with myoplex, water, and a banana. Actually throw some honey in there too. Honey's got a fuckin' high GI, but it doesn't matter after your workout. Your body is screaming for nutrients, and is catabolic. You want to spike your insulin. And even though this would be the only acceptable time to do this, you still want to take it easy if you're leaning out. But if you're staying strict, that won't hurt you.

Now, if you're bulking....put whatever the fuck you want in there. Pack in as many carbs (fast of course) and as much protein (fast of course) as your little heart desires. Just make sure to minimize fat as much as possible (not for caloric reasons, but for absorption-rate reasons).

peace.
