At the age of 23 I decided to resume competitive activities. Before that, a coronovirus and a new job made adjustments and I hadn't competed for 3 years. I wanted to compete in powerlifting for a long time. I started training for 6 months. In the end I lifted 260kg in squats, 170kg in bench press, 280 in classic deadlift. I finished the competition with 9/9 attempts. It was important for me. I managed to take 3rd place and get into the prizes.
During the preparation I went the way of calorie intake. I simply added 50 carbs each cycle. At that point in time I was eating about 550 carbs at the start. By the end of the spring my calories were on the order of 850 carbs minimum. Consequently, I gained weight from 100 to 117 kg.
After 3.5 months after the powerlifting competition, the date for Bodybuilding was known. In the NPC federation. It drew 8 Pro cards and had 2 shows with a pro qualifying for the Olympia. They ended on the weekend. I decided to try and get ready for them in time. I lost weight, 17 kilos in 3 months. And when I got to the 100kg mark, I noticed something wrong with my body. It was like I weighed a lot more. 3 years ago, performing in classical bodybuilding, I was 82 kg, without fat and dehydrated. As a result I was in shape now but had doubts about my weight. Went to the lab to get tested. Because of the harsh diet it affected my metabolism and I was told that my weight was now 93-94 kg if I got dehydrated.
In 3 weeks I still got ear inflammation. I didn't take any chances and stopped the training. The second reason is because of the changes in the criteria, there can be problems with height and weight. On the drylift, the height becomes lower. I'm 180cm. If I show exactly 180 cm, I can reach 94 kg. But if I'm 178, I'm already 91.6 kg. That was the problem at the weigh-in. A lot of people couldn't get into the category because of their height. And if you go to pure bodybuilding, it starts from + 90 kg in amateurs. But to look competitive, you need to be at least 98-100 kg. The absolute champion was 103 kg and got a Pro card. That's why I didn't take any risks, the weight loss was already sharp. And to add dehydration sharp or burn meat because of it, can say negatively on health.
Third thing, I'm a realist. To give a quality shape, you have to make the structure rigid. And that takes time when you're in shape. When I went on the diet, I got body fanaticism. I stopped eating calorie-dense foods, I don't feel like eating sweets and junk food at all. When I put all these things together. I decided to go into powerbuilding. I'm rebuilding my strength. I'm at 102 kg, I'm keeping a comfortable diet.
It has come to my attention that we will have competitions again on July 7. So I want to get in good shape for powerlifting and then try my hand at bodybuilding. Plus in the summer there will be a couple of strong competitors again, which I want to try to beat. And in bodybuilding I've exposed my students, they took positions in the top 5, so I have all the possibilities to be there too. That's why I want to approach the power start in good shape also externally, so that it would be comfortable to approach bodybuilding.
In the next posts I want to talk about preparation, diet, recovery, related points, and pharmacology. @HilmaBiocare I think it will be interesting. Thank you for reading this post and taking the time to read it.
