im curious as what other competitors do to carb up before a show.

I have a show Saturday and my coach has me on 750 carbs today and 750 tomorow. Mixed between carb shakes, sweet potato and brown rice.

What's your guys protocol before and day of?

i dont know that sounds like a lot..why did u pick sweet potato/shakes/brown rice to carb with? just cuz ur coach said it or because u have evidence that fills u out more

During my last show, my coach had me eat a rice cake every hour with a teaspoon of jelly on it up until pre judging...seemed to work alright. I'm going to try something different next time

Typically sweet potato and rice fill me out. Normally if I carb up after a period of low carbs I'll do 350carbs. By that night my stomach is bloated and pushed out. After my morning dump my muscles looks really full and pumped.

But my coach gave me the macro split. I'm feeling bloated af now but I guess I'll see how I look tomorow after pulling water.

This contest is more of a test run for my next show in 3 weeks.

enjoyed your tren/prop cycle log
Are you running a similar cycle right now?

Interesting he gave you an already set amount of carbs. When I carbed up I knew the foods I was going to do, but not a set amount. It was basically a "let's see how you look in an hour" type of thing. Who's your coach?

I cut out sweet potatoes, brown rice, veggies etc this could be the reason for bloating. I have my competitors switch to white, rice or red potatoes and definitely not any shakes the week of and then will carb up big depending on what time they go on stage. I also add a tablespoon of almond butter about 30 minutes after specific meals during peak week.

Not sure what's going on with your carbs man. That's 3000 calories just in carbs?

Yea similar plus masteron.

3 more weeks. I posted a pic in the media section the other day. Got one more competition then I'm done for a little bit.

yeah that's what I was thinking

If you are doing shakes on the carb up, what are you doing to keep the water from remaining?

To caveat that: Its been a long, long time since I competed and I did not use anything to help in eliminating water but I went without 2.5 days prior and received all my water intake from the carbs (rice, pasta, etc...). Of course, I loaded carbs and water 6 to 3.5 days out and eliminated sodium for the period as well.

Listen to your coach, you hired him for a reason. Now is not the time to be asking questions. Stick to one game plan and go with it, if it doesn't yield good results then you know for next time

Still curious as to my question but this is really sage advice.

I always tell people that. I will not tell anyone what to do if they have hired a coach. I basically mention actually what you did Demon. Good advise.

Since it was one day past his show I shared a little bit with him.

Some coaches have unorthodox approaches to their plans. Some work and some don't but you have to follow it to a "T" and see what happens.

When I posted this I think it was a show that was more for practice and learning how I should carb up. To see how my body reacted. 750 on the second day was a little much. 550 was the sweet spot. He's a pro physique guy but won't name names.

How did it turn out

I looked better in my second show. But still placed like shit. I posted some pics in media section.

Yea I lived and learned from it. White/jasmine rice, red potatoes ect do better. 400 carbs on thurs and 500-600 on Friday was a little better showing.

I only had to cut water the evening before starting at 6pm. I was watery that evening and nervous. Woke up dry as hell and surprised. I guess I drop water fast.

Agreed. I have a hard time trusting coaches but I learned from my first show in April that I just need to listen to them. So I stuck to it.
