Pre workout meal?

Lived on about 1200c a day for two years after initially cutting the weight. Carb depleted at less than 25g per day, usually around 60g or less fat.

Body adapted I guess? I don't know, but I gain fatty tissue quickly. Even at as little as 2500c unless my entire day is the gym and walks.

I actually feel like absolute shit if I eat before I hit the gym. Maybe a protein shake or a pouch of uncooked oats, but that's all I can handle. Still prefer to wait about an hour though.

1200cal for an adult male... I'm actually somewhat speechless in where to begin with my response.

That's significantly less than what a female teenager would be recommended to eat.

True that. It takes a minimum of 1200 cals a day to even be considered a balanced diet for a 100 lb female

Guys. If we’re talking cals...

ITS RELATIVE

of course you’ll gain weight on 2500 if you we’re previously eating 1200.

Now, if you were to be smart, and make 200cal increments from 1200 to 2500 over a few months I’d bet you wouldn’t gain nearly any fat, you’d have a better relationship with food, be in a more anabolic state, and enjoy life.

I'm aware.

The body finds homeostasis I guess. My primary concern was maintaining weight at the time, and it took a long while to stick.

I'm still sitting around 2-2400 daily. The muscle is there, but I've got to keep shit right tight tight when I'm straight bulking.

I dunno, can only speak to my experience. Which I know isn't typical. But strength came in deficit, moderate lean mass. Lean mass blew up as I started adding more, but ~2400 is where I hit the point of diminishing returns lean vs fat mass.

Yet I'm a 220lb male.

What I did, of course, but over the course of about a year all together.

Largely as a means of redefining my relationship with food. It just needed to become a matter of function rather than pleasure.

Extreme I know, but I was in a pretty bad place and it's what did the trick.

I will admit to blowing my CNS more than once though. This was all many many years ago mind you.

No way I could or would do it again.

Will add that it's pretty audacious to assume I don't enjoy life. I was literally spending most of my time in the gym or hiking. Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy. :)

I just needed to not enjoy food the same way. Had to kill that relationship dead to rebuild a healthier one. Deprogramming a lifetime of associations isn't an easy thing.

I’ve been doing sweet potatoes and chicken for a while now. Digests easily and good sustainable energy

Some days I have to work out first thing in the morning, if I eat a nice breakfast then lift, my workouts are terrible and it seems to nullify my pre work out supplements, seems they have no affect. Even if I have something small like a protien bar or something it's like my work outs as far as intensity and energy is concerned is down a lil bit. I have been wondering my self if I should just work out in the a.m. fasted or not?

I hate morning workouts but have to do them from time to time.

I get up extra early, coffee, and a normal meal with carbs, usually 6oz ground turkey or steak, baked potato or quinoa. Try to be at the gym 1.5 hrs later, have a carb, Creatine, EAA drink on the way to gym.

Afternoon workouts I love and basically follow the same as above in am, but of course have had 3 other meals prior.

do you drink any coffee or any type of preworkout in the morning? i know that food is very important but if you still wanted to workout "fasted" you could have your coffee or a preworkout instead. i drink two cups of coffee in the morning, i eat throughout the day, and i take mesomorph before the gym but still end up drained toward the end of it.

I fond caffeine works good for me so coffee for me is a yes. I also when running ECA, run a dose pre workout as well

if you hit gym 30min after you wake up then you need something to ingest it very fast but give you the energy. i usually go with 50gr whey in water a banana and apple and 50gr oats.Blend, drink, go

I like eating something simple before gym ( since I am bit older I am more sensitive what and how I am eating ) . I like quick oats with protein shake and some bananas .

with fasted cardio isnt the point to do it with NOTHING is your system. Or then it's not fasted
