You arms are going to get smaller if you lose a decent amount of weight. Its as simple as that and no amount of protein is going to prevent that.

How much protein should you be eating? It depends on how you are dieting. But overall, a good general rule of thumb is 1g/lb (2.2g/kg) of bodyweight.

I have been dieting for the last eight weeks and my macronutrient profile was this-

Fat 50g/day
Protein 200-250g/day
Carbs 300g/day

Those values are approximate, but they are the goals for each day, so that I avg about 2500cals/day which is pretty low for me. I have lost almost twenty pounds but the circumferance of my shoulders has increased by about 1.5cm. (Not bad for leaning out without AAS, credit to new shoulder routine) I am now at around 230lbs. You should obviously eat less than this, but the same nutrient ratios can be used for you. I don't like doing really low carb stuff because my workouts suffer, and 300mg/day felt pretty low for me. BS is definitely right though- you will lose some size all over, which can be psychologically defeating, but the exposed muscle will look much better.

A rule of thumb i use is 1.2 g of protien times X Lean Mass (total weight - body fat).If your 300 lbs and just began lifting, 300 g of protien is a waste. For Instance, I'm 195 lbs with an around %10 bf. So that means 195lbs-19.5 = 175.5 is my lean mass. 1.2 x 175.5 is 210.6 so i try to hit 211g of protien a day. If i wanna bulk up i might try and hit 240g of protien a day. but i would never take any less than 211g during intense training even if i'm cutting!
