Pull ups

So I’ve recommitted to the the pull up game and I must say, I’m loving it. The progress in the first 30 days has been a lot of fun. Anyone else doing pull ups on the regular?

I do them when I decide to do vertical pull as opposed to horizontal. I have home gym with rack and no cables so can only pull ups as opposed to some pull downs for a change.

Every pull day. I alternate between pullups and chinups to cover all of my bases.

To be clear, alternate between sets or weeks. I’m currently doing both each week, which is what I think you are doing. What rep range are doing?

Right now, I'm doing each one day a week. Chins on Monday and pullups on Thursday.

I just kind of follow what my body is telling me as far as reps go. If I'm feeling sore or beat up, I'll just do AMRAP with bodyweight for a few sets. If I'm feeling good that day, I'll throw on the belt and do some weighted sets.

Every few weeks I've been switching to supinated and close-grip pulldowns just to change things up a bit.

I'm definitely not claiming that's the ideal way to do it; that's just how I do it.

Mainly use them as an activation exercise before back or deads. Occasionally I'll throw them into a shunting session if I am struggling for time (i.e., squats with wide grip pull ups), gets the heart rate going and gives you a bit of a sweat on.

Try this one day:
Set 1, 1 rep
Set 2, 2 reps, set 3, 3 reps....etc etc up to set 10- 10 reps. Then count back down to 1
No way, i can only do 5-6 pullups at my weight. I am talking real pullups, if you can do these to the chest. Dam.

but i do think doing half pullups after 3-4 reps of real has there place

do you do full pullups each rep, or will you just go as high as you can?

I much prefer chin ups to pull ups, Im at 15 reps on a good day now. Might start trying with some added weight involved to get the reps in the 10-12 range.

I also have a hard time feeling it in the lats/back, is this from bad form?

I go full back contraction. Not chin over bar, but maybe forehead head level with bar? Yea, they're tough
