Quest / test results access to dr

I didn’t see anything in the sticky, and nothing really came up on search when I tried.

When ordering labs from ulta (or another source), is there a way to make sure that my doctor can’t see results for a test I ordered myself?

Currently on 4iu GH for the first time and need a reading of my igf1 to tweak my dosage (if necessary). The problem is my endo ordered a hormone panel for my low T, and ideally I would like to get the igf1 drawn at the same time.

Anyway to keep results private on my own tests?

In the portal of the company you order though, use a different address than the one you have registered with your Dr and / or registered on the quest website.

When you do this, you will only be able to view the results in the portal of the company you ordered the tests through (ulta, goodlabs... )

When I did this, my quest account didn't even show me as having a blood draw or any pending results because of the mismatch. The only place I could see the blood tests was in the goodlabs portal.

I did this by accident, and can't guarantee that it gives your desired result, but seems like it could.

By default Ulta doesn’t share. However, if you ever set up a personal account with Quest (and probably Labcorp), if you opted in to share results with a doctor, and you have your Ulta tests done at Quest, those results may be shared with the doctor you set up to share with in your Quest account.

This only applies if you have your own account with the lab (to buy tests directly), not if you just happened to get tested there in the past.

All labs are accessible to medical professionals as long as they are linked. You can prevent linking by using a nickname etc or by not having an account with Quest or LabCorp directly.

If your labs do not turn up directly in your LabCorp or Quest account, then others will not be able to access it.

It is not sent directly to them, but I wouldn't be surprised if most medical systems (e.g myChart directly pulls them)

Thanks all - going to try a set of regular hormone tests on a typo’d name and different address and see if they show up in my quest account like usual or not before deciding to do an IGF1 for myself

To close this thread out - my “test” seems to be successful. I just had a blood draw this morning in this alternate / typo’d name + birthday + alternate address and it is not showing up in my actual MyQuest account. Normally it shows up right was saying “Sample received at the lab”

So all is good, and I can track igf1 and others away from Doctors view as necessary.

I do want to note that I did check my ulta accounts and all my draws had “NO” selected for sharing with doctor, but it didn’t matter because it was tied to my name, bday, address, etc and pulled into my quest automatically

Labcorp allows your Dr to see the previous test results as it is attached to the tests he ordered. If you download the official report you will see the previous test results just like your Dr can. Quest does not do that last i checked. That is why i only use quest for the blood work i order myself through 3rd parties.Been doing it this way fir years..

My doctor was able to pull and referenced results on our call from tests I ordered on ulta myself, basically standalone requisitions not attached to anything from him. Maybe I just got unlucky. I am playing it safe since I don’t need them seeing my run on GH (or other things in the future)

Only if you are linked.
All reports in your labcorp account are linked.

The previous col is empty once they are all unlinked.

All my testing has been through quest. MyQuest app shows my ulta ordered tests along with my doctors orders. I’m not sure if I had linked ulta to quest at some point years ago, or if it’s just going off name, date, address, etc.

Kind of bullshit that the doctors can see them honestly. I haven't ran into this personally. Hope I don't in the future. Definitely would not have opted in to linking on purpose.

I have never linked anything to my Dr on labcorp website. Yet he has seen past results as he has inquired about it. So how would i unlink him for some labs i get on my own. The 3rd party sites i use all need my real name as i need to show ID to get blood drawn at the blood draw center.

One of the forms i have to sign with all the Dr i have dealt with gives them access to my test results otherwise they would not have access even if they ordered them as they would still be private from my understanding. And that appears to give them blanket access to all tests results anywhere. So i use one lab for him and a different lab for me. That has worked so far.

You can read post #5. basically if you have a LabCorp account and you login, all labs in that account are linked together. What you want are the labs from your doctor in them, but labs from anywhere else to not be present.

Use an abbreviated name, etc when buying labs outside.

This is linked

Unlinked

When i go to my linked accounts page at labcorp webpage it does not show any linked account. And i don't see any place on the results page to unlink an account either. So where do i find them.

You can't.
It's automatically linked.

You unlink it by using a different name so that it doesn't match your account at all. e.g John Doe vs John D.

I understood that from your post. But since i have to show my ID to have blood drawn whether it is for my Dr or when i order my own tests and the vials are marked with my name after drawing the blood and they are in system under my name how does the nickname hide my identity from my Dr when using labcorp ?

When your doc sends in an order, it uses your actual name. Name matches LC account -> goes to LC account.

When you buy labs outside, you use an abbreviated name. Name doesn't match LC account -> nothing goes to LC account.

Labwork for John D is not the same as labwork for John Doe.

There might be other ways they are matching aside for name (e.g dob, address, etc) but i wouldn't know. Maybe you can use the same name but change address? You basically don't want it to match. However, this also means you can't download the reports directly from your account.
