Quest / test results access to dr

When your doc sends in an order, it uses your actual name. Name matches LC account -> goes to LC account.

When you buy labs outside, you use an abbreviated name. Name doesn't match LC account -> nothing goes to LC account.

Labwork for John D is not the same as labwork for John Doe.

There might be other ways they are matching aside for name (e.g dob, address, etc) but i wouldn't know. Maybe you can use the same name but change address? You basically don't want it to match. However, this also means you can't download the reports directly from your account.
But when i buy labs on the outside and give them a different name. Such as Johnathan Smith or any other name
Then show up at the donation center and show them my ID of John Smith it does not match anything in their system. Showing i have any blood tests on order. They are just going to trust me that those 2 different people are me. I think that goes against my states laws.

Print out the lab requisition slip.

It has a different name on it. And my ID shows that is not me.
So they wont give me that those bloods tests as they belong to someone else who has paid for them.
Doing that would make it easy to scam the system.

I've never been ID'd for a blood draw at quest. I am in california for reference, other states may have different regulations

Maybe try going through quest instead?

Ive never had an issue with Labcorp.
Not telling you to fake a name.
Using abbreviated names, are very common.

Obviously using a name of John for Tom isnt going to work.

Mine's always asked for ID, never had an issue..

i sent photos of select lab results to my dr, and they went ahead and "pulled" the entirety of the reports "for my convenience"

i raised a bit of a stink and it does seem like that wasnt supposed to happen.

so if nothing else, at least in the us state im in, he health system has access to pull those lab reports in their entirety without your express permission or an opt-in form.

nickname, alias, different address or one of the other suggestions might be the way to go to guarantee they can't or don't pull them

You probably signed away your rights there when you signed up for mychart or whatever equivalent with your doctor. In normal circumstances this wouldn't really be a problem and unnoticed
Every year when i go to a Dr or hospital i have to sigh a few pages of paper work. HIPAA etc. one of the forms give the Dr/institution the right to view my medical records. So if a Dr wants to search all the labs it seems he could find everything. The vast majority wont put that time and effort into it.

I didn’t see anything in the sticky, and nothing really came up on search when I tried.

When ordering labs from ulta (or another source), is there a way to make sure that my doctor can’t see results for a test I ordered myself?

Currently on 4iu GH for the first time and need a reading of my igf1 to tweak my dosage (if necessary). The problem is my endo ordered a hormone panel for my low T, and ideally I would like to get the igf1 drawn at the same time.

Anyway to keep results private on my own tests?
I use Walk In Lab. I order the bloodwork I want from there, and a Doctor will send it to the Quest/LabCorp of your choice. It's outta pocket, but you can claim it back on your taxes. Depending, your insurance might cover it if you send the paperwork in. I haven't tried. There are a couple of these sites. I just use this one.

You just have to schedule a time and go on Quest/LabCorp site. They will ask for insurance as a backup once you get to Quest/LabCorp. But your Doctor will know nothing. You get the results in about a day or 2.
