Question about injury.

hey guys,

I'm currently doing the 5x5 single factor and am progressing great. This past week though my right knee has undergone a lot of stress, where the entire knee is swollen now. (not sure what exactly happened, heard a pop while stretching as I recall, behind the knee where the pulling is now, was not really painful however) The entire joint is extremely tight, and under certain motions there is an extreme pull on the back inside of the knee kind of leading up the hamstring. It does not pull however when I actually stretch my hamstring. Anyway, I'm gonna be heading to the doctor later in the week, but would very much like to continue my lifting(barring nothing serious is wrong). Squats are probably out of the quuestion now :( and I could possibly still do rows, but Im not sure if I could go heavy or not due to overal load.

So my question is should I stick just soley with bench, and do a substitute rowing lift, seated overhead press instead of standing? Or should I just take off a week and rest. Im on week 8 of the program and would very much like to finish the entire program, including squats. Just not sure how much I can really handle until the problem is remedied. Thanks in advance for advice.

Everything that you mentioned sounds good and I would leave out the leg work until you find out what the problem is. Keep us posted and good luck, I've worked out through injuries before and glad I did. So if it hurts don't do it, do something else instead.

hey guys.

went to the doctor today. I suffered from a torn meniscus. How exciting, eh? The doctor said the injury was probably attained from heavy squats. He said sometimes it just happens, even with proper form and all. I will probably have an arthoscopy performed, and was doing some reading. That will put me out for approximately 6 wks. Just wonder, but has anyone else gone through this? How did it turn out? Are you able to lift heavy now? Thanks for all your help.
