I think this thread proves the huge racial divide in white/black society.....from both sides.....it hurts me to see such hatred.......yes I get sick when I drive through bmore and dc ghettos....but thats poverty.....we really need to get over this as a country and move on. I went to see Cornell west who is a black intellectual from havard or princeton....he spoke about the oppression of black folk and then said u can be what u want, a singer, a rapper, a dancer......what the fuck about an engineer or a manager or a chemist.......thats the only way this cyce will stop is by education, I presented the question to him, it was at morgan state a black college.....I said minorities should should for the sure thing a lawyer and engineer ect. Those are obtainable, but a fucking rapper come on! He gave me a shitty answer and the folks there were like what the fuck is this white guy speaking on "our" subjects......I know I will never understand being black but as a society we have to address this problem....it will make the US that much stronger and better.....

One other thing....all these white hids hate blacks but yet immulate them in dress, talk, music.....i don't get it...I was in switzerland and the music channel had these swiss dudes trying to rap.....the black culture is provasive but yet everyone or most everyone hates them....what gives?

But one thing I hae learned.....DC is 70-80 percent black and most black folk want whatever we want a nice job, family, good education for their kids......the biggest problem I see is unwed mothers.....that holds them back really bad and that is a self control issue, the black community needs to addres that situation and really due a lot of soul searching!.......

with respect to whites emulating the blacks via rap and matters of attire, you are again correct. it's truly sad for me to see this and i have expressed this sentiment in a previous post on this very thread. the media has helped to popularize and glorify this type of behavior and many kids, lacking any discerning abilities, jump on the proverbial bandwagon... again, so sad. however, as the mature, many they realize the error of their ways and get away from this.

you also mention the issue of self-control with respect to teen pregnancy and unwed mothers. i think the issue of self-control in the black community has a much wider application and this is manifest in many other areas of their lives such as crime, violence and incarceration, lack of education or the inability to successfully complete schooling, inability to get a good job, etc...

i believe there is a racial divide but i feel this divide is created and nurtured by the blacks themselves. they fail to step up to the plate, to take responsibility and do those things necessary to get themselves out of the place they are in. when they do this, when they start to pull their own weight and contribute more to society, then they will be seen as equal to the whites, by the whites themselves , and this will help quell the resentment and bridge the gap between the races.

i would love to see where we would be if we were held back for all those years?? you really need to think about it. Its a proven fact that "blacks" are still being held back.
