Regular oil vs filtered oil

Hey guys...

Maybe someone can give me some insight on this. Was looking to order some brewing supplies and med lab supply has regular carrier oils and filtered oils. The filtered MCT oil was I think more than 2x the cost of the regular MCT oil although they are both labeled "pharmaceutical grade"

Has anyone used both? Is the difference worth the price? Can filtered oil really make much of a difference if we push our end product through a .2 micron filter anyways?

Buying a filtered oil will go through the filtering process quicker but you could use oil from the grocery store and end with the same product.

Id go with the cheapest option.

You don't need STERILE filtered oils since they're going to become sterile upon bottle opening and brewing.
Coffee filter will work fine to fine any particulate matter (rare find)
I've brewed a zillion times with local supplement-shop MCTs.

IMO save on "pre-sterilized" oil/mct and spend on top-quality STERILE filters.

Also, MCT works much better than plain oils.

If you get oil from the grocery store make sure that it is cold pressed oil. The only ingredient on the bottle should be the oil.

Yea I've pinned MCT based gear almost exclusively for the last year and I love it - so I'll be ordering USP MCT oil. Probs not going to a store.

You're over thinking it

Go to the store, by the oil. Filter your brew with a sterile .22 filter. MCT is not the best oil to use. It depends on what you're brewing and the mg your brewing at

Buying filtered oil and what not will not increase the filtering process!
