Reta issues - switching to tirz

First off, this is a peptide issue but this forum seemed most appropriate. If I’ve posted in the wrong location I apologize.

I’m looking for those who have experience with a similar issue, or have a strong knowledge of glp-1’s who can suggest a path forward.

I’m 42 years old and started a cut about 3.5 months ago at roughly 23% body fat. I’m sitting stalled at about 13% now. I started Reta at 4mg per week split into two doses which worked amazingly well for several months. Eventually my hunger and cravings began returning so I increased my dose to 5mg, also split into two injections.

As before, my body became accustom to 5mg. I quickly learned that any time I attempted to increase my dosage above 5mg weekly I experienced severe gas later in the evening, after 5pm. This issue was especially bad when lying down to sleep. My burps smelled like garbage. This symptom persisted for approximately a week and only subsided after lowering my dose. This issue was bad enough that it severely affected my sleep. I tried this titration three times but each time this same symptom returned. I feel it’s obvious my body hit its limit with Reta.

Looking around the internet, it sounds like I was experiencing slow gastric emptying, resulting in food lingering in my stomach long enough to ferment.

I’ve just started a partial transition to tirzepitide. I’d also like to keep Reta present for the benefits it provides related to using GH.

I’ve decided to try reducing to either one dosage of Reta at 1 or 2mg once or twice a week. I’ll pin tirz Monday/wednesday/friday at 2mg each.

I’ve taken the Reta twice now at 1.5mg then again at 2mg but it’s too soon to evaluate whether it’s working or not.

Can anyone provide some input on whether or not I’m going about this the right way? Or better does anyone have anecdotal experience with this issue?

I would try and help digestion because I think you may run into the same issues with tirz. Glutamine with every meal , or 15g split throughout the day. Psyllium husk , a good probiotic. Also how much water are you drinking daily ? This one sounds dumb but also really making sure you are chewing your food, maybe not the recommended 30 seconds per bite lol but just do what you can to make it easier on your digestive system.

Rake the tirz once a week. Microdosing is a fad with no clinical trials to back it.
I can absolutely feel a difference in taking it at least twice a week. I found that when I did try once a week I started getting hungry and or craving food towards the end of the week.

I agree, 3x weekly may be excessive but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try.

Absolutely! Part of the issue may be due to severe acid reflux. I have to take Nexium each day otherwise it’s unbearable. I’ve tried various methods to reduce it and they haven’t worked.

I’ll look into glutamine.

Taking 1 tbsp of psyllium per day now and I’ve added another fiber supplement just recently. I’m taking a probiotic as well as digestive enzymes for about a month now.

Drinking roughly one gallon of water per day. And after listen to a recent podcast on chew food, I try to do so when I remember.

Famotidine Is my favorite anti acid, not sure if you’ve used it before (it’s the active ingredient in Pepcid , get the generic famotidine for a fraction of the cost). I don’t do well with PPI’s personally. That’s good you’re getting your water in, should help keep everything moving. Hope the issue gets better soon my man !

I’ll look into Famotidine. From a quick Amazon search it looks much cheaper than Nexium, assuming roughly the same dosage.

Sorry, what do you mean by this? I’ve had acid reflux issues since I was a kid. No new acid issues recently.
For some (me) , how can I quantify it - it isn't really reflux, but the shier amount acid that rises, or the stomach environment becomes more acidic - it hurts...

Especially when you eat bigger amounts of something your stomach always reacts to..
Example for my part: maltodextrin, to much fibre (a lot of oats), some onion blends etc....

Yeah I think I get it. It feels like it’s bubbling up into your throat? Mines not tied to food though.

Betaine HCL helps with the dyspepsia / digestion issues from GLP’s. The eventual diminution of the appetite suppression is why I prefer reta for bodybuilding. It’s taken many months but I also take 5 mg and I can now get down 800 cal meals without much discomfort, can eat a decent amount of sushi without getting sick, and have enough of an appetite to still feel a little hungry at the end of a normal day of 3200 (and still losing bf at these calories).

All the GLP’s will cause these GI issues. For me, tirz at 7.5 was when I switched to Reta due to severe appetite suppression and GI problems from any level of added dietary fat (ie half of an avocado would make me shit myself).

You may try an alginate solution when it comes on. It basically forms a raft on top of the stomach acid keeping it from rising. You can find recipes online to make it yourself for cheap, but to see if it works for you, try this product on Amazon.

I’ll take a look. I do find that if I stay on top of the PPI I don’t have much trouble though.

It’s possible if I could get off the PPI I could then take betaine HCL. I’d think this could help pass the food stuck in the stomach faster. Although, when I’ve come off the PPI the gastric emptying problem didn’t disappear.

I am 'one' the hyper sensitive ones, but I don't take it for appetite suppression - think it took me around 6 months to get used to and comfortable with a dose of 1 - 1,5 mg of reta... - so I have no heavy acid feeling anymore

- I still just have to increase the dose a bit and my gastric emptying stops completely, midsection blows out and it looks/feels like sh!t, and I can't eat because of it..... So an indirect appetite suppression...

But I got some appetite suppression when I started with Reta...
