Rising PSA

Just got my lastest PSA results. Though they usually come in around 0.6, this time they came in at 3.3 (Ref. range 0.0 - 4.0). Other than the dreaded C, what could cause someone's PSA to increase?

I did make sure that I didn't have sex the day before they drew the labs, but for the past few months, I have been having a sex a LOT more than I ever have in my life. :)

Yes, I tell them 24 hours. But it would also be true that you should not, for instance, ride a bike during that time--anything that physically manipulates the prostate.

Go back in and have another PSA run.

An acceleration of 0.75 in PSA is reason to withold TRT until full evaluation by a Urologist is completed. Also, many physiciqans, including myself, are alerted when PSA rises above 2.5. This is especially true for gentlemen who have a family history of Prostate CA.

But don't worry until you have the second set back.

I hope that I am not giving the impression that I am panicking over the results. I believe that the elevated levels are due to prostatitis, rather than CA...man at least I HOPE that is the case. It seemed to me that a discussion of the things that could impact PSA levels might prove beneficial for others, in addition to myself.

I notice that OTC meds like Sudafed indicated that you should consult your physician prior to using them if you have difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate. Could use of these types of meds impact a guy's PSA?

Also, does Estrogen play a role in PSA level?
