Rodgerthat training log.

01/24/17

Trying to maintain my strength as much as possible right now I so badly want to be cutting but bunch of stress and not being able 100% in the gym means it's not the right time for me so here's my workout non the less.

Bench press 275 4x4 225 3x6
Incline dumbbell press 50s 4x10
Cable lo to high 4x12
Deadlifts 225 3x10 really wanted to work up to 315 but my leg isn't having any of it unfortunately so had to take it easy even on the reps I felt strong till the end then all of a sudden 10th rep my leg Collapsed in so I called it with 3 sets.
Pull ups 4x15 4x10
I owe a shit ton of push ups to the church but for some reason I'm not doing my EOD push ups maybe cause I'm working chest so often but i owe 600 reps which I'll probably do a total of 800 this weekend while I'm away on vacation.

01/25/17

Did two hours of rock climbing to work on my forearm and dynamic strength and cause it's fun as shit.

Also did 200 push ups today which was brutal after yesterday's chest workout

My leg felt alright climbing today which is nice that it's not collapsing at all under my own body weight even when it's a dynamic fall/loading

01/26/17

Tried out squatting nothing crazy but got ATG no pain and minimal instability with 135 for 6 sets of 10 pause reps.
Dumbbell shoulder press 80lb 4x8
High pulls 185 6x3
Bicep curl 40s 4x16 20s 1x30

I did an hour of mobility and warm up today cause I was procrastinating squatting and chatting with a bitty who's quite intelligent and incredibly sexy literally both of us made our workout an hour longer for basically no reason. Also had a good stretch afterwards I've really been focusing on stretching my solious on the bottom of my foot to try and prevent calf tightness and heal lift in the squat everyday think it's my holding factor for my dorsiflexion now.

In other news my crossfit competition sold out in 2 minutes and because it is crossfit I wasn't an eager beaver sitting at the competition when it opened so I'll have to find a different one. If my body doesn't start to feel better by the time I've recovered from my surgery I'm either 1 going to take time away from weight training and do yoga swimming and HIIT to maintain strength or 2 going to go do more bloods and see if maybe I've fucked myself up or if simply one can not recover natty from heavy weights and having an incredibly physical job. Or maybe a combination of both. I've thought about trying to talk to my girl about me using steroids but honestly I don't know if I want to use em anymore either, yes it does wonders for my recovery and gainz but I'm not delusional into thinking I'm ever going to beat Brett Gibbs in the 83kg category or even place nationally so that has me tugging away that as long as my sex life and quality of life aren't effected by my TT (which was 520 4 weeks post pct my baseline was 730 5 cycles ago) then I shouldn't use.

So after a weekend of boozeing and pizza and skiing with minimal sleep I hit my workout today.... and fucking slayed that shit!

01/31/17

Snatch 95x3 115x3 135 4x3 155x3 165x1
Clean&Squat jerk 135 4x3
Deadlift 135x5 225x5 315x5 405x5 455x5 495x5 405x5 315x5 225x5 135x5
Shrugs 225 2x20

Mobility and stretch.

My knee is still a bit buggered to squat heavy but it's solid for snatch, not quite clean for some reason don't know just felt off when I was doing cleans so stayed light but it's solid for deadlifts so really wanted to take advantage of being fresh to push some more heavy weight

02/01/17

Knee hurts but is not injured, pain I can deal with instability and injured I can't do I'm glad it only hurts now cause I can squat again!

Squats 135x5 225x5 315x5 365x3 405x1 435x1 455x1@9RPE 405x3@9RPE (was hoping for more then one set but I'll take it) 315 3x5
Slingshot bench press 315 3x5
SS
Leg press 540 3x20
Leg extension 4x16
Pull ups 20,10,10,10 (my pull up game was shit today my lats got pumped after the first set and I never get a pump so I was kinda pissed as it made it impossible to do multiple sets of 20)
Big ol stretch and bike ride with my pooch as the weather outside is not frightening

I think your smart here. If you ( as you say) feel great and sex drive is good, no sense using the drugs if you dont think it will help you accomplish any competition goals. If i could recover, i prob wouldnt be using either.
Also , i think its much harder to recover from very heavy workouts when your natty without a doubt. And a very physical job is gonna contribute to that as well.
Anyway, nice work bud!!

Thanks bud always nice to see ya pop by. I'm keeping up with my 21 y/o girlfriend with no issues at all besides not having a Gatorade fridge beside the bed so I'm good there. As for the workouts natty or not I'm pushing respectable weight and I need to give it that respect too cause it definitely does wear down on the body if I don't let it recover. As fun as being on cycle is there's something nice about saving a few bucks and not jabbing myself daily even if I'm itching for that superhuman strength levels

Cant argue with this. I get to where i dread pinning, taking a break is always nice.
And you deff push respectable weights, the trick is recovery, but you know all that!!

Alright two heavy lifting compound days in a row is too much now I was trying to jam all my workouts in Tuesday Wednesday Thursday cause I'm skiing again all weekend but wasn't able to get my crackling and aching joints out the door today for a workout. Unfortunately that's how she goes some days, I was hoping to be able to do it but I think I'm going to have to alternate heavy days and recovery days now as the body just ain't healing fast enough

Good lift in today for sure
02/06/17

Snatch 155 6x2 not a single one missed that's huge for me.
Clean&squat jerk 185 6x3
5 second ATG high bar pause squat 315 10x1
Pull ups 10x10
SS
Push press 135 10x3
No breaks between pull ups and push press just the time walking from one to the other

Going to go hit the hot tub and Ayana now

Training is kicking my ass
Tried to see how recovery was for me doing two lifts in a row and even though I didn't even go about 75% 1rm yesterday I was beat to shit and my nervous system said oh nay nay.

Anyways
Bench 275 3x5 3x3
Deadlift 135 15,12,10, 8, 10, 12, 15
Mobility/stretch

Ain't going to lie I kind of feel like I'm having to push my will to be a power lifter right now, I was always pulled in by it before and it was easy to grind now be grind has become a chore. I love the process but it's a hate love relationship and I'm dancing on the side of hate right now especially cause I've kinda let myself over eat to help with recovery and pushing strength and I know once I start cutting this weight ima lose all that bench strength I've gained.

Damn man. Maybe it's time to take a break? Dont mean to talk like a quitter, but if you're not enjoying what you're doing then fuck it's just damn near masochistic.

Hey brother stick with it. You are a knowledgeable dude. You will adjust, adapt and overcome this.

I'm a firm believer of the "SAID" principle.
"Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demands". Nervous system training. I believe in this very much. I learned this year's ago in the military. Your body will adjust.

I squatted everyday for month. No lower than RPE 9 for single then I did back down sets some weeks I did a daily max and then backed down for few sets. This was grueling the first week. Nervous system was beat to shit. By second week I was feeling great. Strength was going up and it continued that way for the month.

Stick with it. Force your body to adapt. It might take some time but it will adapt and only get stronger.
