two days ago I got a phone call from my wife telling me that my step son (who is 22 years old) has got bells paulsy and half his face is paralized. He is on some QV gear and told he doc so. The doctor siad that steriods them selves have no bearing on his illness and that it was brought on by a very rare virus.
I have the same gear from the same lot but have not started using it yet. One can not help but to think that this rare virus MIGHT and I mean MIGHT not to start a rumor have come from dirty grear.
About a week ago I read in anouther thread about sterlizing useing a thing called ba or ua not to sure saw it on anouther forum. I need info on two things 1 has anyone heard of something like this virus happening before and 2 what is ba some type of alchhol? Also where can I get it,I will definetly be putting it in my gear just in case.

ba is already in the gear. or supposed to be. its used to dissolve the drug into the oil. it also makes the gear bacteriostatic meaning that it wont necessarly kill bacteria but to prevent bacteria from culturing in the gear. adding more to the gear might make it more sterile but will make it more painful to inject and isnt real sterilization. you can make your gear more sterile by filtering and heating or lab procedures for proper sterilization.

i dont know much about bells palsy but i think its just one of thoes spontanious, freak things. probably not from dirty injectables. but if you where to think your gear is dirty for some other reason, can it and get new shit. why take the risk? but your gear should be good if it hasnt been tampered. it has the snap top on it right?

I had Bell's palsy a few years back. It comes from the side of your head getting chilled, like from sleeping in front of an air conditioner or fan. In my case, I stood on a river, fishing, in the wind with no hat on. It goes away in about a week. A friend of mine had it too, and he doesn't do gear.
I highly doubt if your gear palyed any role, but bake it anyway. Always bake oil based gear. Put a pin in the top so it won't gather too much pressure, then bake it at 250 for 15 minutes. Do that 3 times, letting it cool in between.

It is from a virus and the infection can range from mild to severe, with total recovery ranging from weeks to months/years. I wouldn't freak about the gear being a contributor.

Bells paulsy has been linked to individuals who have the herpes virus. I'm not sure which type of the herpes strain, You'll have to ask you're Doc on that. Its not from you're QV gear though.

You should be able to find a lot about it by doing a google search, have you ever used a search engine before? That should help put your mind at ease about where it came from... since it's a virus I'm not sure you can sterilize and have much effect, I 'think' a lot of viruses are almost impossible to kill, since some are so simple as to be a DNA strand with a protien overcoat.

Bell's palsy is the result of a viral infection, not from taking AASs or sleeping on the side of your head or whatever. It is rarely if ever permanent, although it might take as long as 6 months to go away. Relax.
