SHELF LIFE OF CARRIER OIL??

Hi im wondering the shelf life of mct oil when opened, as i did read somewhere that it doesnt last and may need to be checked after a while. But cant find anything onit.
Does it expire for injecting?

Thanks

As far as oils go, saturated oils like MCT last at least two years.

Monosaturated oils that are highly refined like extra light olive oil have at least two years. Extravirgin should never be used as it hasn't been refined enough to get rid of things that go rancid.

Polyunsaturated oils have a 1 year shelf life.

That said a vial kept cool and away from light could last many years. Could be looking at 5 years or more.

The life of the rubber stoppers could be compromised due to certain solvents like EO, that's something to consider. Benzyl Benzoate really doesn't have a very long shelf life, neither does Benzyl Alcohol.

Longer shelf life can be expected out of shorter esters, acetate ester would be a good example. Longer waxy esters are bound to deteriorate faster.

@zepp
Cheers man that helps alot, 2 years for mct is good for me.
I did just open a litre of BB & BA. how long do they last once opened?
The BA has an expiration of 2024 but is that when still sealed?

Buy fresh BB for each of your batches if you go more than 6 months.

Basically BB is used to reduce viscosity of the oil. That's why I use Mig840(a fully saturated highly refined oil with a very low viscosity) and brew with low concentrations like 100mg/ml. I add 1% Benzyl Alcohol and try my best to avoid using BB because the shit is nasty.

Try tasting some BB to see what I'm talking about, you're injecting that garbage into your body. Years ago I screwed up a batch of TNE by putting 30% BB in it, made me feel weird when I injected it, like I was getting sick and run down everytime I injected, felt like I could taste that nasty BB in my mouth. I pitched the batch, brewed at lower concentration and left the BB out and it was great.

My motto is simple, oils good, solvents bad.

Dam first ive heard of this, hopefully its ok if not ill look into it.
Wish i hadnt just bought a litre of it then lol will probably waste like 980ml

We all buy too much or too little of what we need when we first start brewing. I used to regularly pitch practically full bottles of BB and BA when I first started.

Typically 20ml bottle of BA is more than enough. As you're only using 1 to 2ml for every 100ml batch.

100ml bottle of BB is more than enough for a few batches if you're not going over 15%, which would be 15ml BB/100ml batch.

Yeah makes sense, i need to find a place in the uk that sells little bits cheap, like on ebay it will be £10 for a 100ml or £20 for a 1000ml so i end up spending more.even if i dont need it

@zeep in your opinion, which of these would be the best carrier? Mig840, Mct, gso, EO?
Not zeep but I’ll give you my advice. The one that works the best with your body (being zero reaction/pip). Can’t tell you how many posts I’ve seen of guys buying stuff in MIG or whatever and can’t use it because they have a reaction to it.
