Shift work and sleep

I think you need to wake up and smell the roses. You should consider 100k a year is top 5% in the country and top 1% in the world. All that with no formal education youve got it made. Easy as that

I would suggest stop moaning about it and change your mind to fit your job. Your always fucking tired cuz you always tell yourself your always fucking tired. Your falling victim to your own thought pattern. Wake up. FUCKING SMILE. You got it made

You're right man. Thanks for that. Might be just the kick in the ass I needed.

So, I'm a power plant operator. We work alternating shift work. Our schedule is 2 on 2 off 3 on 2 off 2 on 3 off. Every time you come back to work from being off you switch from days to nights or vice versa. I've been doing this for two and a half years now and it's running me ragged. It's seriously killing me. The money is great. Six figure yearly salary for someone with no college degree. The work isn't ridiculously hard. There are days when I get a little dirty or I'm stuck on a dozer pushing coal for 12 hours but for the most part it's not a bad gig at all. The problem is I'm ALWAYS tired. I've been with the company for over ten years now. I installed and maintainenced electric and gas meters and did minor electric and plumbing work before I started working in plants. I'm just at the point where I feel like my quality of life is more important to me than the money I'm getting paid and it's just not worth it. Anybody do similar work or have a similar schedule? Any advice? Thanks

I'm on that same schedule. I work 7 days a month and 7 nights a month. I'm also on call pretty much all the time.(I can refuse). I like to workout late afternoon/evenings. I make more than the supervisors and engineers here. I've been doing it for 10yrs. If I'm tired or rundown I just put my workout off for a day.

Stick it out and adapt. I know far too many guys in their 50's and 60's with no income. Look into a script for klonopins or something for sleep/stress and roll with it. It's better than becoming an alcoholic or relying on other harsher things on your stomach throughout the remaining years

Life gets in the way. There is no easy remedy. Get realistic. You have to make a living, and it sounds like you are doing well. Cut the duration of your workouts to 1/2 hour just so you get there. The thing is just get there. You are not training for Olympia.

What fucks me up is when I overwhelm myself and fail. It's just a mind fuck you do to yourself. Anyone can train for half an hour. Just get there.

I grow marajuana. I got time to train.

Shift work is one of the worst things you can put your mind and body through. The incidence of cancer, hypertension, obesity and several others are much higher in shift workers. I worked 12.5 hour night shifts, an avg of 4/week) for 10 years. It was by far the most unhealthy thing I have done. I finally switched to day shift, taking a $5.00/hour cut in pay. My mental and physical health are so much better today. Do not allow $30,000 hold you hostage to something that is killing you and making you miserable. You can always cut out some of the necessities to save money.
Consider, banking as much money as you can in your current position until you find something else.
