Should I tell my doc about my steroid use in the U.S?

Not true. I have a very honest relationship with my dr... when I go to other Dr's, such as cardiologist, surgeons ect my steroid use is not in any "file" maybe some Dr's are like what your saying but mine is not.. I'm gonna be honest with my medical professionals and get the best guidance and care I can get.

if your circumstances really are as you describe then consider yourself lucky. Here where I live, the PCPs and general practitioners give zero fucks about their patients. After an exhaustive search, I found one that looked promising based on all the data and feedback I could find. To see him, I was put on a waiting list for 18 months. During that time the health system he was part of attempted to reschedule me with every new PCP that came into their system, which took some effort to decline. About a month before the appointment I got a notice that he was planning to retire soon and reducing his hours so I’d be seeing his resident, but he would be overseeing any treatment. Finally on the day before they canceled my appointment. When they called, I explained that I had been waiting 18 months for the appointment . The admin’s response was very much, “yeah, whatever.” When she asked me if I would like to reschedule and I said I was too angry at the moment to consider it, she hung up on me.

By contrast, I was able to get an appointment with what is maybe one of the top ten hip surgeons in the country within two weeks. When they offered me a date a week later I asked, “this year?”

These are the woes of living in a large urban area, I guess. In any case, I’ve had medical records from one of these systems appear at the other without my consent. So, it definitely happens, though maybe not in your case.

Doctors really do annoy me. The entire medical community behaves as though their time is precious, which is fine, but so is mine, by quite a bit more, in fact.

I think the difference in urban to rural plays a role. I will say that I have shoped for a dr very meticulously for a few months as I was planning some things for the beginning of the year like the recent surgery I just had to repair 2 hernias.. my options are fairly limited being in a town of 6000 people.
As I have kinda stated before I am not as concerned for things possibly going into my records as some people. If there is a file of mine it is clutter with a lifetime of drug abuse, rehabs, and mental facilities.... Then there is my public criminal record. I live in a small community where a few generations of my family is from, lol there ain't nobody got any skeletons in closet around this bitch!!
For me it is really about the quality of care and attention to detail I get and seeing the same person everytime was huge for me. Who knows what down the line looks like but for now I found the right place. Right of the bat I got quite a few medications prescribed to me that I have been having to buy from india pharma. I did take the a stack of bloodwork results from the last year(14) I had and 2 pages of notes and a list of things I wanted to get looked at and list of things I have taken, and am taking.. first visit was about 2.5 hours. It was just a good fit. Maybe I'm lucky.. I may mention I do have a pretty good personality and communication skills in person.. maybe that's helps a tad.
So far in the last 2 weeks I have had a cat scan of my major organs(partly out of an abundance of caution because I do take hormones mixed with a surgical procedure i was at high risk of having a blood clot in my lungs.) While getting an ekg my dr. Noticed i was short of breath and sent me right to the hospital for the imaging.. my lungs, heart values, lymph notes all look great on scan. My ekg is a little off and I am already in to see cardiologist tommarrow.. sleep study next week! My list of things I wanted to get done before my next blast is getting done just as I planned.. Hopefully the reason my heart is misfiring is not a big deal...
Peace, hugs and good luck!

No. Never confess to doctors of you taking something that wasnt prescribed to you. They will use that against you. Whether its legal or illegal do not confess. Remember even if they are intrigued by your story, legally they have to put it on file and will turn around and use that against you down the road. Your medical file goes with you where ever you go.
Not true at all. Furthermore, insurance companies aren’t going to go investigating every member’s file and see “illegal steroid use” and ban you.

my pcp knows about my testosterone use and allows me to pull some pretty extensive bloodwork at least once a year (thats all i ask for) the other bloodwork i do on my own , but he just always gives me the "side eye" about some of the tests as well as results, but at the end of the day a good dr wants you healthy and not in a dangerous position due to something so so simple as bloodwork,, Im in the USA also,,

You can get bloodwork ordered especially for testosterone without a problem especially once a year. You need to remember most primary doctors are clueless when it comes to testosterone use. So technically you’re self treating yourself but using him just to order bloodwork. Urologist and endocrinologist that actually treat testosterone required you to test every 3 months and some trt clinics as well.

Thats what you think that its not in your file. Everything you talk about goes into your medical file. Even if it stays in their office but its in your medical chart. Your doctor can not treat you for steroid use so your kind of shooting yourself in your own foot. They dont go to school to learn about trenbolone. Unless you going to some “trt doc” that is using bro science to better understand steroid use. You can get any kinds of blood test nowadays with or without a doctors note. But im glad you found a doctor you feel comfortable sharing everything with. Its not like that for the most of us.

Im in a similar situation and would be curious in input for this. I want to work w a cardiologist since lipids are my riskiest blood marker, and I have to get a doctor’s order to get a Calcium scan, even if I’m willing to pay out of pocket (total BS).

It’d be nice to be honest w him or her, but I dont want to risk being denied life insurance w a record of steroid abuse. Not sure how else I can go about this, dont think there are black market alternatives for testing like this (that’d be nice).

If I just say I want a scan for the sake of monitoring health, im willing to bet theres gonna be pushback since I’m in my 20s and they recommend these tests for people over 40. And then if I show bloodwork w/ low HDL, questions are going to be asked…

Maybe play dumb and just say ive been randomly experiencing chest pain (lie about a symptom)?
Lie. Say you have a strong family history of early cardiac disease with elevated calcium scores.

Sesame Care online does referrals for imaging. I was in Orlando at a conference last summer, and a vendor was there advertising that coronary scans were offered without referrals. Chiropractors can order tests. Lastly, sometimes going to a med spa type place will work. I mentioned struggling to find a dr who would order some specific tests for on one of my kids, and the provider said she’s fully capable of getting that done. You may have to do some digging.

Did a cursory google and saw this Preventative Health Tests & Screenings - Life Line Screening
