Should more MMA fighters speak out about PEDs

if you want to go pro in your sport, you use drugs. no way around it. im not big on the MMA scene but what makes you think this guy Kennedy is clean while guys like Silva are getting popped? hes just better at cheating the drug tests. AAS are illegal in the US and banned in sports, so what person in their right mind is going to be pro-steroids while under the microscope of pro sports and sponsorship

PED use is rampant in every sport...look no further than MLB and NFL or even boxing!

Yup, peds are in every single sport. Look at Lance Armstrong. Im sure the next person will be Tiger Woods.

UFC Heavyweight Brendan Schaub thinks we should stop telling kids that cheaters (steroid users) never win because they usually do. On his "The Fighter and The Kid" podcast, he says he can't think of any good reason to tell up-and-coming UFC fighters NOT to use steroids:

"Listen, I would love to hear an argument for why I shouldn't do steroids," Schaub said. "Give me one. Let's say I take steroids and test positive. Say I'm a young kid and I ask my dad, 'Dad, why shouldn't I take steroids?'”

“Can I say, 'Well, you'll never be world champ.' That's not true. Anderson Silva's world champ.

“'Well, you'll never fight for a title.' That's not true. Chael Sonnen tested positive, fought for a title.

“'Well, you'll never be 'The Ultimate Fighter' coach.' Nope, Chael Sonnen, Anderson Silva.

“'Well, you'll never be a main event.' No, not true. Alistair Overeem's a main event. Bigfoot Silva's a main event.

“'Well, listen, you might get fired.' No, not really. Guys pop all the time. If it's cheating, everyone else is doing it and they're getting rewarded for it."

"You know what's infuriating to me? It's not that I'm not champ," said Schaub. "It's not that I've lost some fights or won some big fights. It's more that there's just no reason everyone shouldn't take steroids. There's just not. In the UFC there's no reason. Someone give me a legit reason why you would tell a young fighter not to take them. I would love to hear a good argument. 'Well, you'll get fined $3000 and you'll have to sit out six months, maybe nine.' I fight every six months anyway."

Contrary to my stance ive had in the past. Why dont we just open pandoras box here. Let them all use. Monitor it. Let the public in on our secret. An interesting side effect is the possible legalization of AAS. If your favorite quarterback was known to be on roids wouldn't it open the doors of acceptance?

Fine they'll say what about the records and the guys that didnt use? Put a new set of records up so the old timers can have their glory. But lets stop being so ignorant about this stuff

I'm a pro flyweight fighter and on trt since there is no straw weight class for men I need gear to help bump me up to 125 medical reasons make it damn near impossible to gain without it when I get tested they allow trt If it's used for medical reasons other then low test and you don't tested for every fight they give you a heads up few months a head of time so it's not hard to clean your system before hand just test cyp alone (trt 300mg eow) doesn't do much for me so I norm do 200mg test cyp and 250 sust 2x week if my weight wasn't an issue I could fight without gear but I don't want to love the extra aggression

Speak out IN FAVOR of them in my opinion. It's my view steroids are the new Reefer Madness and could so easily be intelligently and effectively used in sports and life in general. Substances that help heal the human body whether it be healing from an intense workout or rehabbing from an injury, and they are demonized as bad (if not worse) than cocaine and meth ? Idiocy at work. High impact athletes could benefit especially well. I'd love to see the evidence showing how much of an extreme edge steroids have given fighters as many would have us believe. A quick list of fighters who have popped hot in their careers-
Anderson Silva
Nate Marquardt
Cris Leben
Dan Henderson
Phil Baroni
Wanderlei Silva
Vitor Belfort
Stephan Bonnar
All have had success and defeat to various levels. Obviously the list goes on and on for fighters and other athletes, but where are the devastating results from the use? Health issues and all the fighters they have maimed and murdered in their careers with their superhuman steroid induced powers? I'm not saying risk is non-existent but what is so terrible?

Look how fucking big Tito's head is now compared to when he started. Just sayin fool needs to lay off the GH before he floats away on a stiff breeze

OT a little bit, but I watched a special on HBO last night about the high rate of domestic violence among pro MMA figters. It is twice the rate of NFL players. I wonder just how much gear use has to do with those stats.

When one guy gets popped, all the moronic 30% bodyfat men sit around and talk about how he's just a cheater while everyone else was working hard.

I would agree that if you are being paid according your level of success in a professional sport and *aren't* doing everything you can for an edge, you would have to be a fool.

Didn't cheat? Then you didn't want it.

I compete in the bjj black belt division and some guys are jacked up like bodybuilders. I personally use Test E and EQ and it gives me so much energy when training. It also helps me recover faster after getting beat up in training.

Eq is great for endurance and stamina.I have some freinds who are fighters who like eq as well. One freind has been on eq now for 6 months.
