I can't work out on shoulders, chest, or back because my shoulder won't let me. Its been injured for about 3 months, its more of a restriction than pain. I can barely lift the bar with no plates, I can barely swing a golf club and I'm restricted from doing certain stretches. My doc appointment is next week, anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Rotator cuff? Ligament damage? Any educated guesses? Bj

hard to say with the info u gave. What happened 3 months ago to hurt it? Glad to see u r finally going to see a doc about it

it was just nagging me I thought very little of it but it hasn't stopped. I can't remember what actually triggered it, I think I might have went a little too heavy benching or lat pulldowns. It hurts on the side of my delt, where I injected quite a few times......hmmmmm Bj

Where is the pain located? Is it inside? Out side? towards the back or front. I currently am rehabing Bi-lateral Tendonitous. The pain is on the out side of the rotator cuff over the top of the shoulder and part way down the arm. I know I put up with this for a long time. I finaly wnet in for theripy and it is way better already.. i suggest doing what the Dr asks.. I did not and paid the price in pain and weekness. My bench movements droped by as much as 50 pound in some cases..

Any number of things bro...I have what you have but my damage was more severe. If your hurting across the front of your delt or close to the side head what you might have is an inflamation of the acronium (sp?) ligament..the ligament stretches across the front of your shoulder. You could also have a severe case of bicep tendonitis..where the bicep tendon meets into your shoulder.
If you have "clicking" noises when you rotate your shoulders...a good guess is that's it's a bone spur.
If you had a torn cuff you wouldn't be at the gym bro nor would you be able to do much of anything...torn cuff is close to a 1yr. rehab. You'd know if something like the cuff was torn completely.
My suggestion is that when you go to the doc, INSIST and I mean INSIST on getting a MRI done. MRI will reveal what's going on in the muscle i.e. damage, etc. Don't fuck around with shoulders..shoulders are your biggest ally when working out. I ended up having a bone spur removed...more than 3/4 of my bursa sac removed and I had to have actual shoulder "tissue" removed. The more you wait...the worse it gets...take it from me.

thanks for the replys guys, it never was very serious, it just prevented me from lifting(one of my excuses). But the doc said it was my anterior rotator cuff. I can't recall what he said was wrong but he gave me a shot of cort and said it should be perfect in a day or two. If it persists he is gonna have me get an MRI. Right now is 36 hours later with soreness, hopefully from the shot. It feels like 400mg test and 200 deca in my shoulder. I can't wait to get back to the gym, hope it feels better tomorrow. Bj

Bj don't go back to the gym so soon...let it heal somewhat...let the cortisone work...the soreness your feeling is the lidocaine wearing off...I'm not 100% sure but you don't get injected with straight cortisone they have to put lidocaine to help with the stinging..at least that's what they did for all my cort. shots...once the lido wears off then you can feel the soreness of the shot. 3 days resting time is not enough for any swelling, etc. to go down...take this week off, see how it feels, etc. I know your itching to go back, I know I was but just rationalize with yourself that you'll more damage by pushing it instead of resting it. You won't lose your size, weight, etc. in a week bro. Again my .02

thanks shock, I've never had major injuries in my life so I'm inexperienced with stuff like cort and lidocaine. The doc didn't mention anything about lido I just assumed it was only cortizone. What does lidocaine do? Bj

then I can't use my shoulder as an excuse!!!!!!!!! I like the fact that my injury excuse outweighs my post cycle laziness. Bj
