shoulder rehab question

I know there are some chiropractors and PTs around here (and pleny of folks with a good general understanding of physiology), so I'm hoping yall can give me a hand. Its been determined that I've got an anterior subluxation of the right shoulder. The big problem with that, though, is that my pectoral muscle, muscles in the neck, and bicep have shortened/gotten tighter, thus holding my shoulder in that anterior subluxated position. The doc (MD) recommended that I lay off any shoulder work for about a month, then start stretching the affected muscles and doing some very light external rotation work -- all of this over the span of two months. Is it yall's opinion that this is a reasonable amount of time, or is there any way I can speed up the process? I'd be interested in hearing any specific recommendations yall may have regarding specific rehab approaches for this sort of situation. Thanks.

Right I have, well had exactly the same problem everything you explained were my symptons. its almost cleared up now Im doin steady upper body training now but I felt I could'nt do any training on my upper body till the pain mainly in my shoulder had at at least partially cleared up. It might take a couple of months but I would'nt do any heavy work up stairs for a while. Oh and as regards to what your docter said I would take his advise!;)

I'd seek a second opinion to be honest with you, and I'd see an orthopaedic doctor who specializes in shoulders. For 2 years, I've had almost unbearable pain in my left shoulder joint and around my left shoulder blade (scapula). I've seen physiatrists, neurologists, chiropractors...and all of them diagnosed it as something different. And none of them helped me. I finally went to a shoulder ortho and he diagnosed me with scapular dyskinesia resulting from a weak rotator cuff.

I'm now in PT and have responded very well and am getting better each week. Hopefully in the next 2 months I will be able to get back in the gym.

I spent thousands of dollars on injections, x-rays, MRI's, etc. and nothing worked. My shoulder specialist figured it out in about 10 minutes and has seen this condition in many weight-lifters so he was familiar with it.

IMO, doing nothing for a month and then stretching is not good advice IMO. I'd see a second opinion.
