Sign POA on customs

Hello guys,
I got a package sent from china supplier containing small amounts of raw powder.
It got stuck on the customs because they want me to sign the POA and provide my birth number.
It said that it cleared customs already but that was still in China so that was probably a mistake.
It has happened to me twice that the package got sent back to the sender from the customs when ordering peptides but never have they wanted my signature or birth number.
Is this a trap or am i being paranoid?
Someone who has knowledge in this subject, please help.

They sent me an email and a text message saying to provide missing details on my package. The details needed there are basically the POA and an evidence of my payments.

It is possible this is a scam/fake. Doing some research right now to learn more.

When you mentioned "they" sent an email and text, do you mean the package carrier, or customs? Either way, text and email is unusual and typically used by scammers.

If you are willing to share the email address that sent you this message, it may help to be certain if this is a scam.

Have you opened any links or shared any personal information yet?

The emails are from noreply@ups.com.
Im pretty sure its real because when i track my package, it says its on customs and that there is required information to clear the customs.
So lets assume its real.
Should I sign a POA to a package knowing there is prohibited stuff?
Do they actually just need my agreement or is this a trap fro me to sign under a prohibited package?

I don't think I would sign it because of the raws inside. There's also a chance that you sign for it and part of the process is to still open it afterwards.

I might have signed it if it were something like pct raws, but not if it's steroids. It also kind of depends on the country, some countries don't care, some countries wouldn't hesitate to arrest you.

In the US, although rare, there have been cases where people were trapped with signed delivery.

See what others have to say also, but don't rush into it. You should have a reasonable amount of time to decide.

Thank you man, you're being very helpful.
Btw I am inside the EU.

It's for tax purpose and custom duties. At least for me it has always been like this with UPS packages or other couriers. They want fiscal code number so that they can emit an invoice to charge you.

Your call, you can always deny knowing what's in the package imho
