ok rest is one of the most important things to do to acheive gains. i get up every 3-5 hours to eat. other then lifting and eating i don't do a whole lot. MTV and madden pretty much fill my. little climbing here and there. so i usally sleep a max of 5 hours a night. do i need more continous sleep or does my lathorgic daily activities count as rest also?

Your lazy activities spare calories definitely...but you're not entering REM sleep, so you're not releasing hormones that you would during deep sleep.

As far as the 5 hours a night thing...it varies too much with individuals to tell. Some guys need 12 hours, others need 4. A happy medium is usually 8, that seems to work ok for a lot of people...but there is no specific amount that applies to everyone. Thats a fallacy.

as little as you do during the day i dont see any reason to get up at night to eat. I personally sleep 9-10 hours per night. At least that is how long i am in bed. Takes me forever to get to sleep(whether i go to bed at 9 ro 2 am) . like freddy says it varies but i would be really surprised if 5 is enough. At least go to 7 hours and c if there are improvements in your energy and workouts.

A study in the journal Nature was just published that said anyone, regardless of age, needs at least 7 full hours of sleep.

see i have a metabolism like a hummingbird, i don't consider myself a true hard gainer, but i'm not too far off. but when the weather isn't like it is now (todayis the first day above 0 in weeks) i do alot more. i was under the impression that R.E.M. starts 45mins into sleeping. my other problem is over sleeping, if i don't put myself on this schedule, i sleep like 14 hours a day and that really cuts into madden.

lol, wouldn't want to take the chance of missing madden. might have an overtime game that u cant finish. how do u feel during the day? how recovered do u feel b4 the next w/o? It seems you wouldn't be asking this if you were still making good gains. So i would still up it to 7

I usually get 8hrs a night, shoot for 10 on weekends. But sleep is definatley a must if you want to get optimal gains. I used to get up and have a protein shake but it was a pain in the ass, now i just eat some cottage cheese before bed.

I love cottage cheese before bed mmmmmmmmmmmm

I drink a casein shake prior to my slumber. You really should try to get a minimum of 7 hours of sleep per night. Put the Madden down and put your weary head to rest. Peace.

i feel like shit everywhere but the gym and the cafe. if i'm not eating, or not lifting, i'm tired and lack modivation. i'm hoping to start my next cycle soon, and i know that helps, so maybe i'll slip right back into 7-10 hours.
