Soccer/Modeling Workout Routine?

I'll just make this point...

You weigh 150 pounds. That's crazy skinny - like I didn't weigh that in the 7th grade skinny and I was a skinny kid.

In order to get where you want you need to weigh 200 lbs. Men's health models weigh 200 pounds, the better built Abercrombie models do too.

That means you need to put on 50lbs of muscle.

That can't be done with bodyweight exercises.

You need to do the 5x5 and wear a belt so your midsection doesn't get too thick.

Eat plenty pf protein and work hard.

Were you making a joke about the belt?

Tell you what, I wasn't a skinny kid, but I didn't weigh 150lbs in 7th grade either. I weighed 160lbs in 4th grade. LOL

When I first saw this guys post I started to flame the hell outta him. Couldn't be that brutal...

I think I weighed about 110 in the 7th grade... :D

haha sorry guys. I didn't make this post to get made fun of lol. I just wanted your guys opinion since you guys are all bodybuilders and know how to build up muscle since you guys are freaking huge. I'm not gay or anything, I just want a nice solid lean ripped body when I have my shirt off or in a tight shirt, kind of like the build Brad Pitt had in Fight Club or maybe a little more meaty if I can.

I'll probably just stick to full body workouts 3 times a week, basic Mon-Wed-Fri, and cardio on my off days to keep my heart in great shape and hopefully shed some unwanted bf. And maybe somedays maybe off days do sets of push ups/pull ups/chin ups/dips. Is it alright to do abs almost everyday? I've read and heard about peopleing doing push ups and crunches almost everyday and it still helps them build muscle..

Bro, the best answer was given by Mr. Mass. Follow the 5X5 program listed in the stickies above. You need to gain an appreciable amount of muscle mass in order to look muscular. To do so, you might have to put on a little bit of bodyfat. So what? It comes off pretty easy. Don't forget to eat is what I'm saying. And eat like a moose.

Yes, you can do pushups/chins/abs on your off days or whatever if it makes you feel happy. I do chins/dips(shoulder willing)/sit ups/run in the mornings and I'm also doing the 5X5.

But, yes, you NEED to lift weights. Lift heavy weights. Lift lots of weights. Lift lots of forks full of food to your mouth.

I'm sorry bro. You're just looking for help. I apologize for... well, I never actually made fun of you, I just said that I thought about it. Anyway, it was unprovoked and unfair, and I apologize.

That said. You say you're not gay. Fine. But you have this way of talking... "nice solid lean ripped body when I have my shirt off or in a tight shirt, kind of like the build Brad Pitt had in Fight Club". I was laughing my ass off when I read that. Because it sounds GAY. Not a flame, call it advice, like when your big brother told you not to tell anyone how much you love Debbie Gibson records. :D

So if I workout 3 days a week Monday/Wednesday/Friday..on Tuesdays/Thursdays and maybe Saturdays i'll probably do my cardio and maybe sets of push ups/chin ups/dips..this wouldn't be like over training, i can do these on my off days and still grow perfectly fine if not better? Cause I workout at home with dumbells and a barbell and weight plates, I have to jog to a local park to do my pull ups/dips so I was thinkning of doing those on my off/cardio days, but this is alright?

You'll be fine. If the extra work on the off days starts negatively impacting your weight workouts, then drop some of the extra work. Simple.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm going to stick to this routine for awhile and see how my gains are, than if I want better switch to something else maybe a 4 day split.

2-3 sets around 8-12 reps.
Monday
Squats
Incline DB Bench
Bent-over BB Rows
Seated DB Curls
Sitting Military DB Press
DB Extensions

Wednesday
Lunges
Flat BB Bench
Standing BB Curls
Standing BB Military Press
Skullcrushers
Pull ups

Friday
Bulgarian Squats or Deadlifts
Push-ups
Concentration Curls
Side+Front Raises
Dips
Chin ups

Calves/Abs/Push ups on my off days.

LOL - why do we even try?

I'd like to quote a friend of mine...

"im so sick and tired of hearing people who just started training who say they cant gain weight. jeez ive heard this crap so often. every day it seems i have some stupid kid ask me about how to gain weight... in resturants, at the grocery store, yo uname it. for some reason there seems to be a sign on my back or something. usually i know its worthless to talk to them, sometimes i actually waste my time. talked to a kid at the golden corral a couple of days ago. took almost an hour when i should have been enjoying my all you can eat steak night... 3 days later i see him in the gym when i just happened to go in to talk to a friend who i knew was there... kid was there doing preacher curls. said hi to me, then said well i talked to my friend about what you said and he said he tried it once and overtrained so i decided to do this thing i read about... on the other hand about 6 months ago i talked to this 6' tall, 150lb kid who wanted to know about getting stronger. kid had done well in judo, won some titles, also after that had done cycling, turned pro then quit a year later, quite a good road racer. he actually did what i told him i guess, about 3 months after i saw him the first time i saw hiim again, he weighed about 185... he wanted to try olympic weightlifting so i let him train with the team i coach. now hes weighing 204 and clean and jerking about 300lbs, 54lbs gained in 6 months. no drugs. olympic squat from 175lbs to 385lbs, front squat from 150lbs to 330lbs. hell be a good lifter, has a good work ethic. needs to be 240 and fairly lean, will compete eventually in the 231 pound class. will take about another 12-15 months i suppose. why is a kid like this the exception and not the rule? why will kids do the same old thing for years in the abscense of results, and not try anything new? what the hell is wrong with people. there is a gym in town, i know the owner so i go and talk to him sometimes, there are all these kids in there, skinny little fucks, doing curls. they never progress, you see the same faces one year to the next, same bodies too."

Yeah. That's great and all. But I read about these swiss ball dumbell presses in Men's Health... :D
