Well, I recorded the eclipse yesterday. I'm in one of the places where the totality or whatever is highest. I guess my phone camera isn't the right camera to use or something. The video just looks like the sun, can't really see the moon covering it.
I took a few pics and a video with my phone and got the same results as you.
My kid is into automotive stuff and has a tinting business going pretty strong. He had swung by the house and dropped off some super dark window tint squares. It was pretty cool using that shit, made the sun look blood red.

I tried covering my camera with the eclipse glasses and it didn't work.
This is all it picked up during the full eclipse. Like I said I'm at ground zero for viewing it. With the naked eye it looked like a black disc blocking out the sun. For whatever reason the camera doesn't pick it up.

@TESTjunkie, I'm not a believer myself, but I find religion interesting and especially end of days theories. My instructor from CDL school that I just finished had a lot to say on it. This area is called Little Egypt and he had some ideas on that being tied to biblical stuff. Along with the two eclipses seven years apart and how they make a cross over this area. If you've heard of this what do you think of it? Not going to insult your beliefs or anything. Just curious.
